Scots are pretty good at doing all UK accents. We are clever that way, whilst all you get from many Engerlanders is "I didn't catch any of that, sorry", as if they are superior in some way. No, that makes you more limited. If you are not capable of deciphering what someone is saying, let alone being able to replicate the actual accent, that makes you more limited. Not superior.

Exactly! What was Jed Mercurio thinking of, so many plots abandoned in the last episode. The lesbian attraction between Kate and Joanne, Jimmy Nesbitt/Marcus Thurwell (only ever seen in photos - easiest acting gig he's ever had!), Jackie Laverty's frozen corpse (will it ever be defrosted and given a decent burial???) I reckon Jimmy Nesbitt's booked for a big role in the next series of 'LOD', as the baddie.

The scene when the two women touched hands a few episodes ago, and in the penultimate show when Joanne said to Kate "I didn't know if you really liked me or were just pretending" etc. It was definitely suggesting an attraction! I think it would have been interesting if it had gone further. Why should Steve get all the bedroom action?! Incidentally, I don't buy Steve as this randy, womaniser type. He looks about 12 for a kick off - if a woman took him home, she'd probably give him a glass of milk, read him a story and tuck him up in bed, lol!

Kate didn't have a plot line! Very disappointing finale. What happened to the hinted at attraction between Kate and Joanne? It was never mentioned again! And where the hell was Jimmy Nesbitt (Marcus Thurwell)? Easiest paycheck he's ever picked up - they only ever showed his photo! I reckon they're planning to bring Jimmy Nesbitt back as the big baddie in the next series. We never actually saw his face on that Spanish police bodycam footage, when they claimed to have found him dead.

Everyone has an accent. He *puts on* an accent which isn't his for the role. There's a mistaken idea that languages have a "pure" version which is free of accent, but this idea is just classism deciding that one accent (usually the way the rich and powerful speak) is the correct way and everything else is an accent. I'm sure you weren't trying to do any of that, this idea is very widespread, but once you know, you'll start seeing that bullshit all over the place. And whatever accent you have, it's a valid and ok way to speak your language. Vive la difference! 🤓
