All the other models get more talk but these D-18 models are one of Martin's best sounding guitars.

Great sounding guitar & Demo. I really like my Music Villa Martin Custom Shop 18 and so do my listeners, I'm told. Thanks Paul and Quinton.

Sounds brighter than the regular d18

What a guitar player you are, Quinton. You are a drummer/percussionist in the body of a guitarist.
@ericecklund6763 жыл бұрын
Paul, you only needed one more thing to make this a really nice guitar, a C.F. Martin & Co stamp on the back of the headstock. That's a nice video on this great Martin D-18!

I played a new 000-18 and fell in Love with it. This one has the same vibe but this one is a cannon.

I love my Sitka D-18 & love Adirondack tops! My only issue is...you can tell that's a new one...it will take a few years or a lot of playing for it to open up. Like us all...it will get much better with age. 😊

This is what I instinctively think of what I think “acoustic guitar”. Nice

After becoming aware of the Authentic series, I like that some elements are making it into non-Authentic models. The adjustable truss rod is something I greatly prefer to have. The sound was quite nice, and Paul is correct to note there's always another instrument out there that sounds fantastic and seemingly better than what you're playing. Simply put, find an instrument you love playing and enjoy it. Playing an instrument is what will make it special to most people.

Little guitars in rosewood and big guitars in mahogany. That is all the advice you need

And they say "this is the worst this guitar will sound!" Channeling the great George Takei, "OHHH MYYYY!"

Sounds awesome and I have to admit one of the things that always gave me pause about the d18 Auth 39 was the lack of truss rod, which you've obviously addressed with your custom build! One question: what was the thinking behind the decision to not VTS the top, but to torrefy the bracing? Thanks!
@TheAcousticLetter3 жыл бұрын
We wanted a natural "old school" Adirondack top that was also sanded to the Authentic thickness (.105"). The Braces are not just Torrefied. This is the Authentic bracing option which means they are "tucked". The bridge plate is longer and both the bridge plate and tones bars are tucked underneath the main x-braces.

@@TheAcousticLetter again why no VTS? those torrefied tops are the best that Martin makes! I have 000-18 "style" CS w/the VTS addy top and its lovely. I think ALL Martins need that VTS top.

I love a d-18 and really enjoy the one I own. So I ask you, did you have to design an 18 that sounds even sweeter? Love you guys but this just isn’t fair?

Sounds amazing. I will continue to play DX1RAE. Still provides that Martin tone.

That is my favourite Martin, of all the Martins I played. And having worked for a guitar shop, I played many many many. There is something special about it. Sounds so deep and rich.

Does this have the Vintage Gloss Finish?? I know that finish has been exclusive to Authentics for a long time…is that no longer the case?
@TheAcousticLetter3 жыл бұрын
Yes it does have the Vintage Gloss Finish..... this finish is now available through the custom shop but only through Custom Shop Expert dealers.

sweet guitar, but too bright as demo'd for my taste. maybe was my ears playing tricks on me cause the volume was so crushing. definitely a cannon.
@rogerd91503 жыл бұрын
I thought it sounded a little too bright also. Maybe time and playing will mellow it out.
