All Martin Luther was doing was going straight out of the Bible, which is what we should all be doing instead of made up doctrines of the Catholic church. Where does it say to pay to shorten purgatory,? there is no purgatory. Where does the Bible say to confess your sins to a mear man just because he's a priest? The Bible is clear that you must repent yours sins directly to God through Jesus, also no praying to statutes, that's Idolatry. Catholics are doing everything wrong. Why can't they see that. I pray God will open their eyes as he did mine, I was raised Catholic and got nothing out of it. My Mother was only following my father's wishes after he passed. I was blessed to be led to Christ in spite of being raised Catholic. Blessings to you all.

Bible is just a part of Holy Tradition of Early Christian Church ( 1st 1000 years AD) which is called now Eastern Orthodox Church. Important part but just a part. Church didn't stop it's existence after Acts, Holy Spirit was leading the Church in right direction and still He does, but not Roman Catholic or Protestant churches. Christ gave a power to 11 apostles to absolve sins (John 20:23 ), that's the answer on your question "Where is in Bible?" Priests are successors of apostles. There was no Bible as we know it in very early Church, but Holy Tradition was from the beginning. Only Orthodox Church keeps Holy Tradition, has true Sacraments, and true teachings based on Holy Scripture and Holy Fathers of the Church. Nobody else.

Luther's movement was not a failure as this guy states. He was against the horrible false teachings in catholicism that continue to this day.

Protestants made huge, catastrophic mistake. Instead of going back to the roots of true Christianity ( Eastern Orthodoxy) they invented new "religion", completely contradicting to teachings of Holy Fathers of the Church about many important things, like Liturgy, Eucharist, Sacraments ( confession for example ), etc. They went wrong way because Bible is not everything in Christianity. It's a part of Holy Tradition, which has everything necessary for salvation. But Luther was right to criticise Catholic church because Catholics changed everything possible in their teachings after split in 11th century from true Christian church, Orthodox.
