ok. i'm going to break it down over several comments just to make it easy to read. the basic idea is that the CHASE makes a 2 color effect. if you used the basic color presets, you'd need to make a separate chase for each 2-color combination. using the dummy presets lets you only have to make one chase for any 2 color combination so CHASE references the 2 dummy presets (more specifically, CHASE cue 1 references dummy preset 1; CHASE cue2 uses dummy preset 2).

the dummy preset holds whatever color preset you program into it. you can make any 2 color combo by overwriting the dummy preset with whatever color preset you want. in summary, CHASE < dummy presets < basic color presets i'll go over the programming steps in another comment
