The sonorities of this concerto are outstanding. The style of Martinu is direct, full of energy. Very interesting score.

Absolutely fantastic!!!! Bravo to Bohuslav Martinů, Ivo Kahanek and Jiří Bělohlávek and the BBC Symphony Orchestra!!! This concert should be played much more often!

Marvellous to find this here. I had to miss this Prom, ironic as i look for Martinu live performances everywhere and make long trips to hear them. This is excellently played by all parties aided by the splendid reverberation of the RAH.

Great upload. How refreshing to hear a Martinu piano concerto instead of the usual old warhorses (as good as they are they need a rest like all of us) Sound and vision out of sync but if that bothers you just listen to the music, after all that's what it's all about. Great sound from the BBC engineers in a difficult acoustic.

I do love Martinu. I remember a Ken Russell film and the music stuck in my head for about a decade before I sought it out.

I was told of this composer from a friend at the Julliard called Chris Stone. I know thank God his work since 1970.

I attended this electrifying concert as a girl & it singlehandedly converted me to the Czech repertoire, Kahanek’s playing & his championing of works not very well-known beyond Bohemia (such as the compositions of Gideon Klein), AND interestingly enough, the HARP. The sublime conversation in this performance between the piano & the harp is one of the memories I will take with me to the grave, & I was reminded of this concert having just attended harp virtuoso, Xavier de Maistre’s Sydney recital, a recital I probably would never have attended had I not got an inkling of the instrument’s beauty & its kinship with the piano almost 11 years ago at the PROMS.

The new Supraphon of this Martinu concerto is amazing, also with Ivo Kahanek, this time playing perfectly in sync ; ) Listen to it! music.apple.com/hk/album/dvo%C5%99%C3%A1k-martin%C5%AF-piano-concertos/1477982291?l=en

There is something wrong with the syncronisation!
@robertmuehlmann3428 жыл бұрын
Yes it is out of sync but so what? The music that we've always listen to on disks has been without any visuals so it's the music account isn't it? And this performance is wonderful!

Too bad the sound is about a half-second behind the video!

Great performance totally ruined by out-of-synchronization sound to image. What an incredible waste of time, effort and posting of performance.
