the beatles seemed to find the adoration and worship over them genuinely amusing. they each had their ego trips but seemed to always come back down to earth. george martin said they each had a charismatic warmth and humor to them that just made you feel good in their presence. they all grew up in post ww2 families and achieved perfect success in their 20's, then rode the psychedelic waves of love and peace flowing thru western culture at the time... it's so different from "fame" today, where the total end goal is just to be forever in the Cycle of Attention, no matter what...

Martin lost his brother and both parents by the time he was 20. For some people (myself included) dark humor is one of the only things that can help you get through the dark times in life. I wish more people understood that dark humor isn't a sign of insensitivity. It's quite the opposite. PS: I actually have "Beware of Darkness" tattooed on my chest. :) That song is a bit of a mantra for me.

MARTIN SHORT'S WIFE WHO HE MENTIONS IN THIS VIDEO DIED IN 2010 OF CANCER. They had been together for 38 years and adopted three children. His older brother died in a car crash when Martin was twelve years old, his mother died of cancer when he was eighteen, and his father died two years later when he was twenty from a stroke(wikipedia). So for all his kind-hearted happy go luckiness he's known for he's known quite a bit of sorrow in his life.

Okay... so from context clues we can discern that A) the “powerful Hollywood couple” he won’t mention by name who invited him were probably associated with the movie The Hunt for Red October given that Short says that it was 1990. That movie came out in 1990 and no way it could have been on TV or cable back then so soon in the same year as it’s release. Obviously a private showing by someone involved with its production. B). Short mentions “his director friend/host and his wife”. Gives credence that the director friend is probably John McTiernan who directed the Hunt for Red October.

What I dig about stories of stars meeting any of the Beatles is none were jerks. My take is that could be themselves bcuz they knew who they were, how huge they were but with John he was just about the creation of great music as the others but I don't believe he gave a damn about the same after the real early years it's whyhis interviews were only serious when it was time to be serious like talking about racism or politics and war but about the Beatles he could care less he knew they were great so he started to use his celebrity platform for good like most did back then like Ali or Dylan etc many females as well Linda Ronstadt or Joni Mitchell. Different times I'm only 42 but my generation is trying to use music but there's too many idiots out there that don't understand "All we are saying, is give peace a chance". ☮️ 💜
