He makes a great point about the cue cards--even the most seasoned cast members and guest are often looking at them in skits and it's quite noticeable. Marty is such a pro.

Lorne typically demands the cast and guest actors to use the cue cards, to avoid mistakes (and ad libbing, especially for the host).
@ricopaulson1
@ricopaulson1 3 жыл бұрын
The writers are re-writing the material sometimes up to 1 minute before air so the cue cards are apart of the structure. Unavoidable for most. Some just do it better or wrote the sketch so they know it down to it's smallest beats. I get his point but I'm sure it was frustrating. He is such a cool dude regardless. An American treasure ( I know he is Canadian). I don't care. He's ours now.

Martin Short is the best, most hilarious human being to ever be on TV or in the movies. OK, Steve Martin and Billy Crystal, too. I vividly remember Ed Grimley many eons ago (and a galaxy faraway), cleaning up his pad, prancing exuberantly, in anticipation of Dame Tina Turner's visitage. Martin Short. We could go on and on. What a talent. What a delightful, eccentric man.
