I was a student in Newcastle from 86-90 and must have seen the Daintees live a dozen times. Martin Stephenson has never got anything like the recognition he deserved as a song writer. I probably haven't heard this song for ten years, but hearing it again now, all the lyrics come back straight away, a sign of a good song.

A band and song introduced to me by someone I loved and lost by my own choices ... bittersweet memories, but still good. Smile whenever I listen & think of the times we had ... xx

I first saw Martin Stephenson and the Daintees at Cliff's Pavilion - Westcliff on-Sea in '82 - they were supporting John Martyn (who died yesterday sadly) on his 'Well Kept Secret' tour and it was one of the best & most memorable evenings I have ever had. I then met him at Cambridge folk festival in the club tent in about '87/'88. I particularly love 'Coleen' and 'Rain'. This is the 1st time I've heard him for ages, it brings back some warm, fuzzy feelings - old romantic that I am.

Eee, The Daintees, aka in Sunderland as The Dunntee Daintees because of the following that Anth Dunn had amongst every red blooded girl in Sunderland. The girl who was my first love got me into them, and I raved about them to my friends down in the south. So happy to find this.

Absolutely unmatched song 40 Ryhope lads went to Tiffneys in Newcastle still got the ticket £3.50 great night Turns out my daughters boyfriend Knows the Dunnes Fame eluded them .. I am sure a film director could use one of their songs for a film score.

Love this. It was written by Paddy McAloon. Does anyone remember Trouble Town? I have it on a 45 vinyl but, alas, because of progress I am unabe to play it. I am surprised not to find it on KZbin.
Great Martin . Remember the International in Manchester 😀
