After training quite a bit for mini rifle, shooting my blowback #PCC felt like a 12 gauge shotgun with magnum slugs. I made it a priority in training to watch my tension and mount geometry, and quickly had my PCC shooting straight on follow up shots again.
I also tested a new sight, I got from #brownells austria, in training, the #meprolight Tru Vision, which I originally got for another #competition (stay tuned!!), but which seemed very well fitting for my PCC. I actually liked it so much I left it on my PCC and decided to shoot the whole 22 stage, 420+ rounds #mosquito #match with it!
Also my girlfriend decided to come with me on this match trip, and actually she really turned out to be a talisman rather than a distraction (plus, I got 3rd person video footage from each stage! ;-) )
The match itself went quite well actually. There were some mistakes that did cost me som serious points for sure, but let's not dwell on them. The whole match rather left a quite positive impression, was fun to shoot and very well run. Body, Mind and Gun followed my intentions (most of the time) so flow, hits and time were good.
At the end, the performance of 22 stages added up to a second place, which I'm very happy with! About 5% behing a very strong first, dangerously close to a very strong third (with malfunctions), and a good 10% gap to the rest of the field.
A few little tweaks here and there, and I'm looking forward to stay strong on my next few matches!
Next match however won't be a #IPSC match though, but one I'm really looking forward! More to come soon!!

Very smooth, running those stages, you must be a GM? Anyways whats the setup for your pcc, its pretty short/compact. Barrel length? Handguard length? Trigger brand? And what compensator? Thanks

Thank you! We don't really have the uspsa style classification system in IPSC, the closest I can give you is I averaged slightly above 95% overall at Level 3 IPSC matches in 2023. Yes, I worked my way down from 16" to currently 9.6" barrels over the years. My shooting style and mount changed over the years, and ballistically I don't need a long barrel in 9mm so I got rid of all the extra lenght. Also if you watch other pro shooters you will find that even those having long barrels, they won't typically place their support close to the muzzle anymore, and usually have very light barrel profiles, handguards and sometimes even short inner barrels with sleeves or shrouds to have as little weight out front as possible but make 16" legel lenght required for some states. That's also the reason why I settled for 9.6" (~245cm, cut down a 11" Aero barrel on a lathe), because in our local gun laws (Austria) the total working lenght (60cm) of this setup would still classify as "rifle" and not as "pistol". The handguard is selfmade from 7075 Aluminium and a Carbon fiber tube and just shy of 8.5" (215cm). Trigger is a Hiperfire Eclipse, pretty much the gold standard for competitive PCCs I guess. Compensator is also selfmade, but very similar in effect as the typical top open only compensators for PCCs (JP, Armanov, MBX, Brekke...). If you get one of these, you'll be fine, just make sure you get (stainless) steel versions, because then you can be harsher with removing carbon deposits (torches, chemicals, chisels,...).

@impactaustria yes i do have a stainless mbx comp on my next build. With an 8 inch barrel and 7 inch carbon handguard. Trigger would be blitz. This will be used in the philippines to be considered pistol. I can't have this setup in the states due to regulations.

@@JM-rf9sr Yeah, depending on your gun laws (not familiar with them) you might be able to built an upper (just receiver, handguard, barrel and optic) to swap for matches in the US with a different barrel (brekke, JP or MBX 16" shroud/sleeve style).

Thank you! PCC is just a normal blowback type, running on 115gn armaforce copper plated bullets at power factor 135 with N320 powder (currently at least, I might switch powder due to price/availability to reload swiss or so...). Barrel is a 11" Aero cut to ~8.6" (so with unscrewed comp and toolless removable buttstock it makes legal lenght of 60+ cm in Austria to be considered a "rifle"). Handguard is selfmade from 7075 aluminium and carbon tube, handstop is a cut off BCM short vertical grip and the comp is also selfmade, but very similar in design and effect like a armanov, mbx or top open JP. The buffer system is selfmade, but at the end of the day it's still a blowback. A JP5, MPx or stribog A3 will run smoother ;-)

@@impactaustria Ah das ist gut zu wissen. Ich hab mir ne 10" Hera PCC bestellt, war zwischendurch aber unsicher ob die 10" dann doch zu kurz sein könnten und affig aussehen oder andere Nachteile haben. (13,5" war mir dann aber einfach zu lang). Bei dir sieht das mit der kurzen richtig gut aus :)

@@kade3039 10" geht gut. 12" ist auch noch okay. 14-16" ist dann eher etwas für Schützen die die 9mm als Trainingsgewehr für ein M4 oder 16"+ AR15 mit der identen Haptik wollen, oder für eine Handvoll Spezialisten die ganz bewusst das Mehrgewicht bzw die Trägheit eines längeren Karabiners wollen. Kann ein bisschen helfen kleine, nervöse Bewegungen rauzufiltern, was dann eher auf Längere Distanzen bzw sehr kleine Ziele ein bisschen mehr Ruhe ins Visierbild bringt. Aber da meist innerhalb von 50m geschossen wird, für mich persönlich weniger attraktiv.
