That 2017 championship run will be remembered forever, but for me, another thing I'll never forget was *that* performance at the 600 back in 2016. I believe he led like 392/400 laps that night or something ridiculous. It was a true statement of intent, not only to prove that the 2015 Championship 4 appearance was no fluke, but that he could win and dominate multiple races a season and be a genuine threat for championships.

Furniture row in 2017 was a miracle. A single car team beating Hendrick and Gibbs was something we'll probably not see for many many years. It was a sad time when they disbanded after almost winning the championship in 2018

Sucks that Truex is retiring this year but hope he ends this season on a high note. Been a fan of this guy for years and was there at the 2016 600 race where he dominated and won it and it was awesome seeing win the title the following year. That ride with Furniture Row Racing was a blessing in disguise for him after what happened with his run with MWR.

I'm happy for Matin making it to this point in his career, I sure hope he's not being pressured into it, if a Gibbs driver should throw in the towel, it needs to be, has been, more like never has been Denny, his driving has gotten erratic, causing wrecks all the time, he's the one that needs to make room.

The first time I saw Martin drive in person was Richmond 2006? In the Busch race he got squeezed into the backstretch wall and rode on his door. He finished the race after managing to pit by bouncing off the walls and the radio traffic had me in stitches.

Sound like his hand was kinda forced. He didn't commit to retirement he took a half step and hasn't come up with a plan yet on what he's doin afterwards. You could almost hear it in his voice. Sounds like he doesn't want to retire but everyone is telling him he should so he's goin with it.

im honestly gonna be shocked if Briscoe ends up in the 19, just because i dont see Ford wanting to let go of him. With McDowell leaving for Spire, that leaves just Keselowski and Logano as the elder statemens for Ford, and the triple B team of Blaney, Buescher, and Briscoe are in line to be their replacements. Toyota will only have Hamlin left as veterans with MTJ out, and while Jones, Bubba, and Reddick have been around long enough to shore up their experience, adding Briscoe to their ranks would only hurt Ford, as theyd have to bring another newcomer into Cup to replace him (assuming the 3 remaining SHR charters do get sold off to Ford teams, theres too much play on where those could go which leaves a lot of unknowns).

As someone who was a big fan of nascar from the late 90s to around the early 2010s when my interest in the sport dwindled, only to regain interest in nascar in the last couple years (thanks in part to this channel but also the 10 minute long highlight videos so I don’t need to actually watch the majority of races) it is still really weird to hear Martin Truex Jr listed as a 30-whatever time winner, a cup champion, and a first round hall of famer. Cuz I can still picture him driving the No.1 and No.56

WHY do I get the feeling he was railroaded, hamstrung, clotheslined, pressured into giving up his seat at JGR? Is the new norm a Christopher Bell/William Byron/Carson Hocevar 18-23 year old driver? Kids that basically learned how to drive from a flippin' video game? Wouldn't know how to tell a crew chief what to fix to make the car better (or is that what the team owner/CC want, no input from the driver on what to adjust - be a Kyle 'I just drive the car, man' Larson).. Does this mean Truex Jr., Ryan Truex, and Aric Almirola are gonna split time in the Xfinity car? God, this is so depressing.

Every several years or so a driver makes it to the top level of Nascar with all the talent they need to have success, but none of the sponsorship or funding or connections to be in a top tier car/team to be able to use that talent. They fight and claw their way from the back of the field to a 10th or top 20 finish in a car that usually runs 20th to 30th, and you look at them and go "If that guy was in a fast car with a good team he would probably win a championship." Martin Truex Jr was the first driver I ever said that about, with Michael Waltrip Racing I think it was, (Kyle Larson being the only other driver I said that about when he was in Chip Ganassi Target car) then Martin Truex watched that team go away, and after took a single car team from Colorado who ran what like 20th every week before him at best? Backed by just a small furniture store? He took a car that I wasn't sure could win a race, and won a championship. To my knowledge since I have been a fan It had never been done before and may likely never be done again. That team put every last dollar into that championship and it blows my mind the business model is so bad that a team who won a championship had to close their doors not long after. Then he got picked up by a big team with plenty of money and sponsorship and a fast car, and he has been one of the best contenders in the sport ever since with not only a ton of wins, but it seemed like once or twice a year he would just put on an absolute clinic and leave the entire field wondering what he had that they didn't. Not even a JGR fan but NO QUESTION first ballot hall of famer. Sad to see him go, Drivers like him make the sport better because if you wanna beat him you gotta bring your best every week, but SO GREATFUL for what he has done for the sport and will hopefully continue to do in the business side of things.

Honest opinion, he should’ve not retired and I think if he had one earlier in the season, he would not be retiring. There’s a good chance that he could still win the championship and go out on top but will wait and see what happens there, but he should’ve not retired. He had at least two good years left in him I believe, do I do I think the drivers get tired of the schedule and appearances yes I think if they had more time where they could structure their schedule the way that they want instead of being beholden to sponsors I think you would see drivers last a little bit longer in the sport

Bro, I don't understand for the life of me why Chase Briscoe is the #1 choice to replace Martin Truex Jr... If I was Joe Gibbs as a team owner, I would immediately choose Noah Gragson because I would never have to lose Bass Pro Shops as a primary sponsor. Noah already has a relationship with Bass Pro Shops, Coach wouldn't have to change a thing. I make it sound like Briscoe sucks and that's not what I am saying, I am thinking of my continued relationship with Bass Pro Shops and Johnny Morris that I have already had 21+ years. I doubt Chase Briscoe is a good fit with Bass Pro Shops.

Martin Truex is the man class act ALL the way. Joe Gibbs is not. Not a Busch fan by any means. Lot all respect for Gibbs when he couldn't /wouldn't get the Busch deal done. All the best MTJ .
