Martin Turner = hands down, probably one of the best bass players to ever grace progressive music. true gymnast of the bass guitar....and while singing !! the musicality of his playing always equalled the excellence of the twin guitars. RESPECT !! nuff said.

One of the best prog bands of the early 70' Can't understand why Andy and Martin don't just shake hands and get out in the road together again. BOTH GREAT MUSICIANS.

Martin Turner WAS and IS Wishbone Ash. The whole sound, the creativity behind Argus. Andy Powell? Good guitarist but a chancer who'd have had nothing without Martin.
@markfahey39216 жыл бұрын
Sorry Anthony, I have to disagree with you. Andy Powell has carried the WA flag for a long time now and Martin Turner has had no musical output wince the seventies while under Andy Powell Wishbone Ash has continued to produce new material. While I have respect for what he did with WA in the 70's, he has been out of it for a long time. Wishbone Ash has been a continuous entity under Andy Powell.

The version I heard years ago, was that all the potential band names were put into a sack and when picked, two came out wishbone and ash. So they combined the two...

Grown up on Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Thin Lizzy going one step beyond to Wishbone Ash wasn't hard at all. A natural progression even though quite different from all other three bands. Wishbone Ash or Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash? Honestly? I'd easily go see either or both if they came to my town! The band wasn't about big personalities but musicianship and I reckon both shows even today would be quite sweet. I have many albums by the band but not all. Can't say I dislike one album yet and even the weaker tracks are enjoyable. Keep on rocking!

What a lovely guy. Met Martin once ...clever guy. The best thing that happened was the departure of Andy Powell... certainly not the great guitarist we all thought back in the day.
@saintsluggo11 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, considering he was only one fourth of the whole, as Wishbone Ash did not exist until Andy and Ted Joined, I don't believe he's entitle to be called the creative genius. We've seen his total output since leaving WA in the 80's. I guess the creative genius has run out of ideas, which leads one to wonder whom the real creative geniuses really were. Just remember that only one member of the original WA has played on every WA recording since 1970 and it's not your Creative Genius

Yeah, you''re right. Martin Turner was only the bassist AND the vocalist/lyricist and wrote a lot of the music

Martin Turner was, and still is, Wishbone Ash. There would be no Wishbone Ash without this fabulous musician. Andy Powell was a very good guitar player in his day, not any more. Also, in Mr Powell's interviews, he is very economical with the truth.. Don't forget who gave who a job in the first place..This man should be thanking Martin Turner, instead he forms a inferior tribute band and has the nerve to steal the name Wishbone Ash. He has unfortunately let his true colours shine through for all to see. Shame on you Mr Powell..
