1890 මැයි මස 29 වන දින උපත ලැබූ මාර්ටින් වික්‍රමසිංහයන් ශ්‍රී ලාංකීය ලේඛන කලාව පෝෂණය කිරීමට ඉමහත් දායකත්වයක් ලබාදුන් කෙනෙකි. මෙතුමන්ගේ සංකල්පයකට අනුව කොග්ගල කෞතුකාගාරය 1981 වර්ෂයේ නොවැම්බර් මස මාර්ටින් වික්‍රමසිංහ භාරකාර මණ්ඩලය විසින් ස්ථාපිත කරන ලදී.
නරඹන්නන් හට ලංකාවේ ජන සංස්කෘතික උපකරණ, ජන සංස්කෘතික ජීවන රටාවන් ඇතුළු බොහෝ දේවල් බලා ගැනීටම හැකියාවක් තිබෙනවා.ලංකාවේ වාසය කළ සියලු ජන කොට්ටාශ වලට අයත් සෑම දෙයක්ම මෙම ස්ථානයේදී බලාගැනීමට හැකියාවක් තිබෙනවා.
කොග්ගල කෞතුකාගාරයේ නැරබීමට ඇති දේවල් පහත දැක්වෙන පරිදි වර්ගීකරණය කර ඇත.
