Saw her in Chicago last June. Bawled through the entire concert - and the way home! She was wonderful!!! Sweet, humble, can still hit the high notes - like 37 yrs hadn't passed. Best ever! Audience was probably 85-90% black. I'm white. You couldn't have found a nicer audience if you tried. She brings love, not hate with her God given talent - thank the Lord!

I was at this concert! Washington, DC, October 1986 at Constitution Hall. I will never forget it. I was sitting across the aisle from Donnie Simpson! Her backup singers were the Perri Sisters and I found out years later that Gerald Albright played bass for her. What an awesome night. She was amazing! I just love her...

She’s unique in so many ways, taking off long time between albums to raise her kids, each album did great, 8 Grammy awards across 2 genres, and many lifetime achievement awards.
