As a defender, how do you counteract this?

if off the catch, you guard the jab foot, cutting his body in half, and the goal would be to get your left shoulder close to their left shoulder. Theres a video of him and trae young where hes showing some defense techniques. i think thats how you would counteract it. i could be wrong though.

staying on your toes, being reactive and having great balance on defense while staying in front of ball handler! GP was tactful and diligent at doing this! other than that there is no counter for it, if the player attacking your hip is aggressive, skilled, and experienced, then, you simply have a problem on your hands. And, they will most likely counter you before you counter them once the physicality and contact occurs, like great players do! Shalom.
