I went from thinking my new little panpipe was broken to playing my first melody in the course of this one short video. Thanks a ton for getting me started and for having such a refined teaching style, it made following along easy and learning the proper blowing technique surprisingly easy. Not sure if you are going to see my message but how did you go from thinking it's broken to playing your first melody. I am just getting the hang of how to blow. How do you just play a melody like that? :))
@Bou_Diran4 жыл бұрын
@@corneliu2884 i've got a decent amount of experience with string instruments and had an idea of what noises came from where and what i was trying to play (a simple repeating 4 note melody) but i had no idea how to make the proper sounds or what the technique was for making the sounds clearly. I had been trying for days and was starting to think i just had a badly made instrument that couldnt be played, however, Martin's video was thorough enough in his teaching that i was able to fix my mistakes i was making enough to play the simple chained melody and even make up some new ones of my own. Good luck with your learning and dont give up. If you are able\interested, i think the channel owner may still be doing lessons for people, he seemed like a very good teacher. It was years ago, but i still remember what his video helped me learn.

Good lesson. In case it's not clear to some, spitting is a common flute technique known as tonguing. It is used with all true flutes as well as fipple flutes, placing the tip on the tongue on the roof of the mouth as if making a T sound (without the sound) to spit the air stream onto the blowing edge of the tube. It starts the note quickly using little air which greatly reduces the tendency for beginners to hyperventilate and get dizzy. With practice, you can vary the intensity of the technique to harden the note into a explosive percussion sound or soften it to a more flowingly airy or romantic sound. Either way, you want to use this to control the airstream and avoid unwanted wind and squeaky sounds. Going a little more advanced. All flutes benefit from using the oral cavity and throat as a sympathetic resonator. Keep the throat open, breathing from the diaphragm and imaging singing the tune without actually engaging the voice. This helps you adjust the airway to resonate with the instrument. It takes practice of course. The instrument is not just simply a mechanical tool. Your body is a major part of the instrument too & greatly influences the timbre of the sound you produce. So, some good singing techniques, belly breathing and open throat etc make a big improvement. Learn a few tunes well then try this with them. Typically in human psyche, spirit and breath are related. Master the physical techniques but play from your spirit.

Man, I blew and blew and blew, and wrote this thing off as broken... Well, until you came along and showed that it wasn't my pan flute that was broken, it was me who was broken! @@martinespinomusic Thank you, my friend! I appreciate that very much. This has been such a welcomed experience for me. I live in Minneapolis today, but grew up and lived in NYC most of my adult life. The reason I mention this is because traveling in the subways, and watching the Native South American street performers, is where I first fell in love with and began supporting this music. As a Latino, all I grew up knowing the music of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, but I learned that South America, and the world, had so much to offer in their native musics. This is what got me back to my roots and loving all kinds of music some years ago. I am getting the hang of this panpipe pretty well, thanks to you. I have subscribed to your channel and I will definitely keep you posted on my progress. Than you again so much!

I am Nobody Let me know if you need me to give you a lesson a pointer I’ll set you up miles ahead. I give a lot of homework and I expected to be done. I’m a little strict but I’m still funny, LOLI can direct you to some other sources to learn to play even better. And I can even make some instruments for you. But that God bless you for your kind remarks this is a time when it’s beautiful to have a wonderful conversation about culture, what is your culture by the way I’m not sure whether it’s south American or Puerto Rican! Don’t all the feet burritos and listen to Ranchero music???? Lol You know I’m kidding. Anyway yes I think you for the pleasant conversation open yourself up to the other cultures around you not just your own causes any of us to appreciate other cultures that’s what needs to happen this is something I’ve been talking about for a long time get to know your “cultural self” there’s no diversity I’ve discovered a new word and I teach this everywhere I call it “commonality” if all these people of heat with notice things would be so much better because if you look at your roots and who you are you’re going to discover where you’re really from, and example some of the people that are showing up on the news telling Mexicans to go back home but Mexico is in North America and California used to be part of Mexico not only just possession wife but DNA and linguistic but if they don’t know that and it’s just seriously sadly funny I found this information by researching there’s no book that says “all the things you want to know about the states that were taken away from Mexico during the war between US and Mexico”, people can get mad at me and I’ll save my favorite saying “I could die right now and it would still be true, look in the damn history book about how the US acquired, that’s a nice word, most of the South western states! So I’m saying is if your ancestry is from Europe that’s where you’re from if your ancestry is from here that’s where you’re from. Investigate your culture learn more about yourself eat that food tables word look at the art, listen to the music! Many blessings

thank you so much for this. I@m doing a science to a school in the morning. I was trying to think of a way of demonstrating wavelength changing the pitch of the sound. So I 3d printed some panpipes. I realsied there was ore to this than just blowing and your tutorial has helped imnsly. I had so much fun I think i'll start learning to play these and not just use them to demonstrate pitch. Thank you so much

Thank you so much I have all the thousands of people that are that are here that give me such great accolades and I really deeply appreciate it I always list of people can drop me a tip even a dollar and no one puts anything in it’s really sad I mean I give an excellent lesson just look at all the reviews there’s a lot of people I don’t know how to teach I do but if you feel so inclined one of the very last posts you can see it here says you can pay me a donation if you wish again you don’t have to but it’s just nice compared to all the other many many people who watch who really got health and not one of them drop me a tip if you don’t it’s I still love you don’t worry about that I’m just asking maybe somebody will do it you can pay me through PayPal using 562-713-2774 should be under martinespinomusic and the same information for VENMO anyway thank you so much and thanks for listening to me I’m glad it helped you out

There are some idiots out there that are not reading that this video is made for kids and I try to not give all kinds of terminology I know all kinds of adults are watching it but you can see the beginning of the video that I said it’s for kids and I try to make it in language that’s entertaining and understandable I’m not giving them the names of the technique in French so I really appreciate what you said it is helpful because it’s the only way I can best describe it there’s no other way. Miles Davis even described the same technique as he spit out sunflower seeds and or rice to practice on his trumpet embrouchre. And they’re just people who love to nitpick and have nothing better to do. This video is about education not about seeing if you like the way I write something, you know what I mean not you. You’re appreciated

I struggled with getting the air from my mouth to go downwards, but if you put the back of your hand under your head while you are practicing blowing like he shows in the video, it helped we figure out what was happening and what I needed to adjust. ❤
