Lovely video with some lovely views. I bought a Minox 35GT about 40 years ago from a camera shop in Edinburgh's Old Town. The shop is now a hairdresser's salon where posh ladies now pay twice as much for a trim as I paid for the camera. All thing change as life moves on, but that 35GT is still my daily carry. Enjoying your channel immensely - great content and well done.

Sorry I sold mine many years ago. Had a GT and a GT-E. It was very easy to take them to any place where photos were not allowed and get away with it. I also had a Minox 8mm TLX that was fun to use. My only analog cameras left are the Yashica124G Mat that I had since new, and a Rollei GX.

I have the Minox 35 ML a very good Camera with a very good Lens, I used it for travel, family, street and all round Photography, it is a perfect Camera for street Photography, set the aperture and focus distance in advance and when you need it, you can take a shot in less than 2 seconds, that time counts from you get your hand in the pocket until the Camera are back in the pocket !

Once again a great video. Since you are a fan of large format camera I wish that once day in your video you try a half frame camera such as the Olympus Pen / Pen S, the size of the camera and the size of the negative would be an interesting comparison with a 4x5. And for a camera enthousiaste like you it would be great to have your view on these specific devices, and the approach to shoot portrait by default.

Another interesting and, yes, inspirational video. In my view, you have an uncanny compositional grasp, finding occasion for an expressive image that others, including myself, would pass by. And you willingly do it in the muck. And then there is your discussion of development, which comes across to me as some sort of cooking lesson, like making brownies.

I have two of these beauties. An older ML and a newer PE. The lens is gem. I just load them with HP5 Plus or TMY2 @ iso 800 and use scale focusing. The only caveat with these cameras are the electronics which are getting very old, sadly and they are not repairable. A lesson I have learnt from my two Contax G bodies, that have developed faults.

Those shots are of a true artist, especially at 17:48. I've just ordered a Minox GT-E, a later version that doesn't have the battery issue of the GT. Searching the Minox shutter problem, I found a post from someone who'd had his Minox fixed by an experienced repair man. The repair man said when a Minox 35 is not being used, take the battery out, and leave the film wound on, ready to fire - although the shutter is electronically timed, it has mechanical parts and these freeze from lack of use. It should also be picked up every few months and a few shots fired off. Possibly good advice for many older cameras? I'm planning to take the GT-E to Nepal trekking, because nearly every shot will be focus to infinity anyway, and walking to altitude 200g weight is much better than 1kg+ of Pentax LX plus a couple of primes!

Sadly the shutter speed indicator in the viewfinder has recently stopped functioning correctly, though the shutter/aperture still seems to do its thing ok. I shall carry on using it for the fab pics it’s capable of and just guess what speed it might be firing at (sunny 16 etc). Anyway, I’m glad yours is a good’n. Thanks for all you do. Superb channel.

All plastic camera, sold by Minox but made by Balda, a German maker of average quality, lower cost cameras. Lens is a good Tessar copy, meaning that it is much better than an Oly XA. Like the XA, it is aperture preferred auto-exposure, meaning that the user has no control over the exposure. It has a reputation for breakage (plastic), failing electronics, and mostly, light leaks when new. There were many versions with slight differences over the years, so if interested, check the web for those details. You need to try before you buy, or have a solid return option. Repairs, like parts and maker support, are nonexistent. Commonly sold used for about half the price of an XA, to which it is worthy alternative.

Sat down for dinner and watched your video. Oh how I forgot how wet the UK is and I lived in Yorkshire for 17 years! Here in France we had no snow and today it's finally cleared up with temperatures tomorrow of 16c!! I'm off tomorrow to stay with a friend for 3 days and will finally get to use the linhof 5x7. I got a tripod quick release Martin. I bought the zeapon revolver as it's made for a camera of 9kgs. Amazon had it the cheapest. I got given two of these minox but I forget which model now. Both were not working or if they did you could rely on it. The other smaller camera with full control and a great lens is the rollei 35. A totally backwards camera in that everything is not where you would expect but as a 20 year old on the ski slopes many years ago I used kodakcrome and the exposure was spot on. I have the 35s and the 35SE. I prefer the 35s as it's match needle instead of red and green lights in the viewfinder. Have a happy new year and I look forward to watching more great videos from you. Your westie is cute. I had cairn terriers many years ago. Character dogs!!

Sorry, I had several of these cameras. They’re great and have an excellent lens. My first one was bought when they were still produced. I gave up buying them, because sooner or later, the electronics will break down. Always beyond repair. I found out that they have quite a reputation for breaking down suddenly. Leica had the same issues with their C series. Great mechanics and optics, but terrible electronics. A chapter in Leica’s history that they don’t want to be reminded of.

Thanks for the video Martin. I have the Minox 35ML, VERY sharp lens - great little camera. Bought it while on holiday in London in about 1990. I live in Melbourne Australia. Used it as a travel camera for many years. Took it to East Arnhem Land in about 1993 - the fine Outback sand got into the aperture blades and seized them - had to get it fixed. Using Diafine… is it kind of like using stand development?

Well in theory yes, its an old developer designed for older films which were thicker then todays, I would advice anyone using it not not follow the instructions about no presoak and hardly any agitation. Pre soak, if possible in distilled water then agitation as you find best, I usually do the first for 30sec continues then one every min (applies to both A an B) that works for me, if you don't you run the risk off Bromide drag that will ruin your images

I use to own and run a custom photo lab in California and I had a Pako E6 dip n dunk machine that used B&W developer as one of the steps. Got bromide drag with it sometimes but at Kodak school found out that using a non hardening fixer in that process will allow you to refix the film and remove the streaks… then harden later or in my case after inspection.
