I think this the sequel that Marty, didn’t escape from the Tanner’s. After being chase around the town, get cotton almost getting killed but got save in time.

I mean, sure, Buford probably has _another_ revolver that's fully loaded, and his _lackies_ are armed as well, but he has _no_ reason to keep intimidating Marty with _that_ one. It's empty.
