I always loved Marty Robbins. He was a human a man. A real man who deeply loved his wife and stayed married to the same woman. I love that in a real man. No one can replace MARTY ROBBINS IN HIS SONGS 🎶 MUSIC, his car racing and life. Rip in my ideal man!

If Marty wasn’t a country singer, he would be lauded and applauded for his unequalled greatness. There seems to be a stigma attached as if it’s Hillbilly or hick music. I would place Marty Robbins in the upper echelons of American popular music. An amazing, all round and ridiculously versatile singer, songwriter and entertainer.

@@ronniebishop2496 He could sing music other than western too. He did a great job on a Dean Martin song, "Return to me" Sang quite a few Hawaian songs. Play one or more musical instruments and spoke Spanish very well. He could do many things.

Marty apparently had some medical problems and it may have been somewhat because of his hectic pace. The man aged far more and faster than most men.
@ginnybagwell15804 жыл бұрын
@@rwthom I know Marty had heart problems and died in the hospital when they were working him. He was told to take it easy, but he chose to live life to the fullest. His is a lot like Marty, still not the same. I loved how mischievous Marty would be on stage. You could tell he loved what he did. He also was a good racecar driver. He had a amazing life. RIP Marty

His son said he only slept 2 or 3 hours a night. That could explain why he accomplished so much, and why he aged himself/ health decline at the end.

My Dad had been a Highway Patrolman in Tempe in the 40 until 48. He hated seeing people hitch-hiking. Not sure when it was but he was heading to Bisbee to visit friends he spotted a young man with a Guitar. The Man was headed to New Mexico then to Texas. He gave Marty a ride up to the exit for Bisbee then waited until he got another ride further he wanted to make sure he was safe.

it was wonderful to read the remarks concerning your Dad and a young Marty Robbins. Gives me goose bumps to think he was dropped off at the exit near Bisbee, my hometown. Your Dad was lucky to have had such a memorable encounter. When I was stationed at Ellsworth AFB in S.D. in 1962-64. I listened to Robbin's LP's all the time... Have never stopped being a fan.

Although registered on FB, I do not to use that media. If you care to drop me a test note at my email address, bigal31@cox.net I will respond and we can establish contact. I like to occasionally share local information and a good joke now and then with those on my email contact list. I've known many folks from Bisbee from the 1950's on up. Still have some family there. Hope to hear from you.. Bye, bye.

MARTY ROBBINS is the only SINGER that I love most among the famous Singers. Every now and then, I'm still listening to HIS songs and try to cover them. I hope one day, I could sing HIS songs in this hometown of mine and everywhere I go. I was lucky that I was born on the 7th Dec. because, just after my birthday, that is on the 8th of Dec., is the Dead Anniversary of my FAVOURITE SINGER, MARTY ROBBINS. I STILL L💗VE MARTY ROBBINS, THE BESTEST.

Merle Haggard And Marty Robbins were the biggest artists in country music history. They did it all and did it great. Marty was a total western singer not country what so ever. George Jones is totally country no western at all.
@rwthom4 жыл бұрын
Marty was, but Merle would not match Webb Pierce, Hank Snow or Jim Reaves.

Robert Thomas Well Merle had 38 number one classic hits and wrote 34 of them. So I disagree. But I understand the difference, I think? lol
@rwthom4 жыл бұрын
@@ronniebishop2496 Well I think Hank Snow, and certainly Hank Williams exceeded that. And Hank Williams died before he was 30 years.
@ronniebishop24964 жыл бұрын
Robert Thomas Hank Williams was a genius but he never had that many hits, Hank Snow isn’t even close. 38 classic number ones and he wrote 34. I’m talking about classic hits. Hank Williams was in another world and he died at 29 or no telling what he would have done. So % wise you might be right. I’m Moving On is the only classic I can remember on Hank Snow though I’m sure he had more. !?
@rwthom4 жыл бұрын
@@ronniebishop2496 I was just checking this out and you are right. I know they were very popular singers. I have been listening to this music since 1953 and know most of their songs. I never did listen to Merle Haggard that much, but I am becoming more fond of his music lately. For one thing he has outlived most of them. But it is a well know given that when it comes to music each one has a different opinion as to their favorite. That is what makes a world. Either way I will always love the older country music and will never forget Marty.

A terrific voice; an excellent song writer. One must realize C&W and similar songs depict weakness in manhood and an immoral existence. This song is a good example of placing blame on one's Creator instead of where it belongs, on one's family and on one's self. If adultery, fornication and murder didn't exist, there would be NO C&W songs.
