Marty Wilson Gyotaku ( World Record Red Snapper )

Marine Artist Marty Wilson is commissioned to do a Gyotaku for Doug Borries of Dynamic Outdoors TV. Doug caught a 26.9 pound Red Snapper on October 13, 2013 breaking his own record for MS State saltwater fly fishing.
This huge Red Snapper also became the new world record, as well.

haha if you draw the fucker on like that it is not Gyotaku. Rice paper with light ink, perhaps adding color or details to the eye. Not flop a fish down on canvas and paint how you want.

That’s not original Gyotaku in Japan. The California roll is not real Sushi. But they have some senses of Gyotaku and Sushi in terms of skills and tastes. Anyway they’re fun and delicious. One of my hobbies is Gyotaku(indirect method).

It is a nice picture of a whopper of a fish but it is not Gyotaku. You did an imprint but all the rest was not Gyotaku. And it was not done on rice paper.

nice fish print. i wouldn't call this art Gyotaku, Japanese Gyotaku is using japanese rice paper n japanese ink .
