That part really is like anthemic lol. For such a simple lyrical statement it really does make me start thinking about my life as well as others. But you missed the "When I can, I will". The "When I can, I will" (specifically paired with "I just want to be me) makes it hit home even harder. Like we all wish (well most of us do lol) that we can just be ourselves and be accepted. But as much as we might just want to be our authentic selves it can be so fucking hard. Whether it's because we feel like we're to weak to handle negative judgment. Or we feel like we have to fit into some societal mold. Hell sometimes you can feel lost and disconnected to what your true self even is. Even people who give off a rambunctious" I dont give no fucks if you judge me. I'm just being myself" type attitude could also be playing an inauthentic role. Maybe they've been burned too many times when they've opened themselves up to people. So they use that eccentricity as a disguise to keep people from knowing their true self. So even people you might not think struggle with this might actually be struggling the most. Sorry for the long tangent most people wont even read lol. That line just really does make mind start going.

I saw a Billy Corgan interview once where he stated that the original name for the song was "My one-ness". But, after a late-night trip to his refrigerator and seeing the mayonnaise bottle, it was an ah-ha moment, so he changed the name of the song.

95% correct. The other 5% is having the gain pumped on the amp to get the feedback squeals staring around 2:00 mark in the song, whenever the guitar stops suddenly to let the feedback ring out. Hard to do on a solid state amp in a small room, all while trying to not have your recording audio redline on you

Between Siamese Dream, and melancholy I brought hours of music into my playlist. Smashing Pumpkins with my most listened to band on Spotify this year, and they have inspired and influenced me as a musician in so many ways. Their music is nothing but incredible, and I adore every second of it. However, on a separate note. Everybody seems to forget how good Airplane Flies High is.

I learned it from the book as well in the 90s when I first started playing. I couldn’t actually play it but I learned it in standard tuning. It’s a lot more difficult then shown here. This way looks easier and sounds a lot more accurate than in standard. I just ordered the tab book. Can’t wait to revisit it.
