Yeah. I picked up a guitar for the first time yesterday and I'm already making decent songs for an absolute beginner. I played drums as a teen but gave up. That's all the music experience I have and I think I sound ok for some 6 or 7 hours total of practice on my life - thanks to this guy. But God my fingers hurt. They are numb on the tips and I'm scared it's permanent damage... because I have blood circulation problems and I can't feel anything on the tips of my fret fingers. Even when I woke up this morning after hours of rest, they was completely numb. But I refuse to give up even if it means flooding the nerves in my finger tips.
@the_original_Bilb_Ono5 жыл бұрын
Also it's not KZbin that is making the ads, it's another website that wants you to leave KZbin and learn on their website so they can charge you or get ad revenue. KZbin if anything wants you to stay here.

I’d like to think I’m ‘Intermediate’ I know a variety of chords, a few scales and arpeggios...but just left my learning at that, I got frustrated when people around me could play the same chords and scales as me but just apply it in such a better way, I couldn’t understand why. I’ve been watching through these videos and what I’ve been missing is really understand what them simple chords are and what they do. TECHNIQUE is key here and this guy right here is teaching it perfectly. Even though I can play all of these I’m still watching these videos all the way through. His enthusiasm, just after explaining the D chord “I know you’re gonna love it” just shows how much he wants you to apply the things he’s taught already. Subbed!

I was taught to play guitar 50+ years ago in school. I was in a class of 10. I hated every minute. Over the years I hated playing and eventually gave up. I have recently bought a new guitar (my first brand new, not hand me down) and decided that whilst I remembered 5 chords, it would be a good idea to go back to basics. OH MY!! This guy in only 4 lessons has corrected mistakes that I have made (or was taught) regarding finger positions, anchor fingers, strumming AND root strings for chords. It’s made a massive difference already and as a result, I will play better now than I ever have. In ONLY 4 lessons. He is brilliant. Absolutely wonderful. Simple, effective explanations. He is inspiring a passion and joy for this instrument that I have never ever had. Thank you so very very much. What a joy you are. I’m LOVING the guitar, it’s like a brand new affair with music. ❤❤

I must say..This is technically only my 2nd day attempting to properly learn the guitar better than just a few power chords like when I was a teenager. It sometimes feels impossible to learn to play the guitar later in life, but your videos have helped me understand the foundation of guitar playing. I am actually learning chords, and notes rather than just playing what sounds like "smoke on the water" by ear. Your videos are an amazing tool for anybody wanting to learn the guitar the right way in a not-boring way. Thank you, Marty!

Dude out of all the people on KZbin that teach guitar you have been by far the most helpful, I’ve always wanted to learn how to play my parents put me in guitar lessons when I was in middle school but it didn’t stick and the reason why was because of something you pointed out at the beginning of this lesson they tried teaching me Mary had a little lamb and wish you a merry Christmas what young teenager wants to learn that right so I gave up on it but throughout my whole life I’ve always admired people that could play. Anyway about a month ago my wife bought me a acoustic guitar and I started looking at lessons on KZbin I came across you and I haven’t listened to anyone else since then. I’m 41 years old and because of you I can now play hundreds of my favorite songs I grew up listening to and I just wanted to say thank you I’m far from a pro but just learning those basic G, C, E, D, F, A cords some may be minor or major but either way my point is you have brought happiness back into my life at one of my lowest points of my life and being able to play songs like sweet home Alabama and It’s been A while for example that has brought so much happiness and joy back in my life and I owe that to you. Thank you so much Marty music please don’t ever stop doing what you do!

The first words you said kinda hit me. When I was 8 years old my mum used to play guitar (in a boring German church choir) and she put me into guitar lessons where had to do those string picking exercises (almost as boring as the church choir) I hated it so much that once I didn't go and went to play video games with a friend instead. When my mum found out, she disappointedly took me out of the lessons. Anyways I actually started loving guitar music shortly after it. My first album ever owned was Green Day's Dookie (hot new sh** by then) and I loved music ever since. Oddly enough It took me 28 years (and a loooot of lifetime spent on video games) until I decided to start learning guitar. I am 4 months in now and can play the first songs - also thanks to you Marty. Last month I played my mum her favorite German happy birthday song for her 65th birthday. There were some tears involved. It was great.

Hi Marty great beginners lessons your doing here.... If you don't mind I'd like to offer a little tip I have found useful for me....I'm 58 and suffer from arthritis and I find some chords I cant finger them in the traditional shapes anymore and the D is one of them. What I end up doing and it works perfectly for me is , with my thumb on the back of the neck I then barre with my index finger only the G, B and high E strings on the second fret and my ring finger on the B string 3rd fret...... some people with odd shaped hands or not as nimble as we used to be may find it helps.

That's great Lynn! Thanks so much for supporting me at my channel.

Ha, perfect! I was having a hard time with this one, trying to get my fat little sausages in there without hitting the D string, but your technique works great! Thanks!

lynn liggins Great tip - my problem is G. My teeny hands won’t reach down the frets on the Brute (my guitar’s name).

Dude! You really lemonaded the boring-lesson-lemons given to you with just enough Musical sugar and a kick of spiced rum (personality wise) and the pace of your lessons is Spot on, slow enough to get carried away and cramped enough for a Quick lesson ♥️

Hey Marty!! Your Smarty. I love the lessons bro. I'm a drummer and was always intrigued with my guitar players but never thought i'd be able to play. You proved me wrong. I'm rockin bro. Thank you much for the lessons.

Never bore of you Marty! Good to see you're still around - I remember watching your super old videos from back in the day when I started learning guitar. Back again and made more progress in the last 4 days than I made in the last 2 years hahaha. You're a blessing mate!

Hey Marty, Appreciate it. I just started playing guitar about 3 days ago since I'm deployed, and have been learning extremely fast. Only issue is I can't really strum the guitar well, but I'm sure it just takes practice

I’ve been dabbling for probably 15 years and learned more in the 4 days I’ve been watching your videos. Awesome lessons for beginners.

These videos have been incredibly helpful and seeing the comments has filled me with so much relief and confidence. I have little baby hands and seeing people who likely have normal sized hands going, "I NEED LONGER FINGERS!" Has set my mind at ease. I hope this comment can help set your mind at ease too.

I have the same trouble. Then again I see guys with big ole fat meat claws for hands and they do it. I get frustrated then I realize I've only been doing this 3 weeks. Everybody says work thru it. I gotta believe em.

Thanks is not enough Marty. Your videos are amazing. Your a great teacher. I started playing a few months ago and have learned a lot from you and your videos. Being a disabled veteran with very little income the fact that these amazing videos are free makes it that much nicer, as I definitely couldn't watch them otherwise. My sincerest thanks again Marty.

Just started this endeavour at 52. I am on lesson 4 and can see I am going to have to go through 1-4 each one like 20 times before I get it. But every now and then I get it right and that is rewarding. Curling my fingers is my biggest challenge. Keeping my fat sausage fingers from being on two strings at once... not always so easy!
