Great to see Martyn out on the trails. That bike is way to front heavy, easy to lean forward to gain a front bias but not easy to lean back to get the rear down. Looks like Martyn is almost fully seated on the front half. Extending the wheel base might help or getting a heavier rear wheel/convert to a hub motor vs the external drive.
@stefanbogner6237

That‘s what I thought. Put weight to the back. Extending the wheel base might make it to long for tight corners. Wait, I got it: sit Martin backwards with a mirror. 😂

@@stefanbogner6237 adding weight would work but could effect run time or speed/braking. Extending the wheel base would be the best option except for the movability. I like the backwards idea.

Wow! Amazing skills and attitude. Just 2 weeks ago, I was on my bike CLIMBING, and rather than trying to change gears mid climb I tried to just stand and power through. My back went POP and I couldn't move, stand, sit, ANYTHING without excruciating pain. Went to the hospital and I herniated a disc so badly I caused a condition called CES where my disc was compressing a bunch of nerves and they almost had to preform emergency surgery or I may have lost permanent function of my legs and bowel/bladder. I got lucky and my body was reabsorbing this disc fast enough they didn't need to free up those nerve endings. But it absolutely shocked me how EASY it is to land yourself in a wheelchair. Like I didn't even fall, I was just on a simple climb on a blue run. MAD props to Marten for being such a positive and wonderful influence to the entire mtbing community.

Either move Martyn back or lengthen the wheelbase. I think lengthening it may make it tough to handle in tight singletrack but would make for a sturdier platform overall. Who am I to say? @TimInertiatic
@TimInertiatic 3 жыл бұрын
It seems to the recurring issue with the various bikes. Weight is fixed, so weight transfer is very basically none existent. Making it longer may help but potentially make more practical problems. May not be enough mass in the rear tyre to rev it like a Moto to balance in the sir. Sling the batteries behind the rear axle? Either way, it looks great fun
@darienclose5063
@darienclose5063 3 жыл бұрын
@@TimInertiatic moving the batteries could work, the suspension for the back wheel makes it kind of difficult to move the seating position further back, but maybe with a twin spring setup you could set back more, the nose dives were absolutely terrifying. would always want more squat than dive, you cannot easily recover from dives but you can slide out of a backwards spin

My thoughts are it's going to need a redesign with 4 wheels with the rider weight between rear wheels to make the front float if you want to jump safely. Only other way is to lift rider above single rear wheel and widen front track. But what a fantastic FUN machine for unlocking lost freedoms and joy.👍👍👍

This is RadAF. He continues to rip. I suspect a few more rides and it'll be full send 24/7. Yes, steady, high throttle off the face then pinning the throttle while airborne should drop the rear. Steady high throttle results in lifting the front off the face. Chopping throttle on the face and/or tapping rear brake lifts the rear & drops the front. It's a common technique in MX & SX to control pitch while airborne.

A roll bar behind the seat would both protect him in the event of an “OTB” and add some back weight to better the CG. Please consider that. I was terrified most of the video.

I agree, a roll bar would be a very good idea

That rollbar would add some weight itself, so maybe the rollbar would be the only thing needed🤷‍♂️

A bit more develpment and this will have real potential. As others are saying some work on weight distribution and suspension travel, spring rates and pressures and it could be a bit of a weapon.

Love it. Great to see the team together and not just faking in the shed. Martyn, your joy is infectious - we need more like this.

Maybe extending the front wheels past your feet or right there at your feet could improve the nose diving?

thought the same thing, but then the thing would probably get even longer, which would make getting around some tighter corners difficult.

Yeah I was wondering if there was a way to potentially allow him to transfer his body weight while on it... maybe a pendulum that swings to the back when he takes off? Lol

This is the best thing on the internet this year. It made me so happy to see you out riding with your mates. It is the essence of what we do. Ride with friends. My favourite video 2021.
