What a great choice of car to make over. The Iso Grifo is one of the most beautiful cars ever made and you done it justice Mr Marty Sir. Keep them coming. Hello to Miss Julie and Mr Kevin also.

This was my favourite matchbox to play with when I was little and I still have it. Great restore, Marty. Funnily enough, I actually think the matchbox version of this car is far more attractive than the real life car itself. Something about the headlights on the real car being too big and googly making the vehicle look odd. The smaller double headlights on the matchbox version make the car look much better, IMHO. 😉

Hi Marty, as ever well done! Great work, big complement! Beautiful car! The Iso Grifo was one of my favorites, today i have one in my showcase, okay, it's "only" a superfast model, but i love it. All the best fom Germany Günter

You are the man that got me into mending my hot wheels. I have had many off-brand cars with wonky axles that i fixed by moving them to their axle holder with a toothpick 😅

What a hot mess that was, and what a beautiful result. 10/10 Marty! Also, that number plate means the car would have been registered between 1 August 1967 and 31 July 1968. The HY part means it would have been registered in Bristol, which is a bit unusual as most plates Lesney cast were from the east London and Hackney areas (where the factory was located). Unlikely that it was ever a real plate though. Less likely that it was fitted to an Iso Grifo with a tow hook! 😂

There is an iso grifo built 1966 for sale on line. Asking price £285,000. Designed and manufactured by Italian ISO Autoveicoli. All came with American power trains. Thus the big V8s, such as the 340HP Chevrolet 327 v-8 with 4 speed transmission.Only 413 iso griftos were ever built. Make that 414 now Marty has built one.

That colour looks perfect, Marty. The wheels look just right too although by that time, I imagine the Hot Wheels type might have been in use. I don't think they look right making the models more toy-like than real. Hide the keys from Kevin otherwise you will have to get it back from the impound yard because he was too fast on the road way. Cheers, your #1fan.

That turned out beautifully! You were lucky your example had doors as they tended to fall off on this model. Mine are thought to be somewhere under the deck at my parents house since the 1970's...

I got curious and looked at a bunch of photos of Grifos online, and it looks like the little louvered panel on the right rear has a lock on it, while the one on the left does not. I suspect that means the righthand one is the fuel door and the one on the left is just a decorative feature for symmetry's sake.

The vents are probably to allow air to be drawn across the brakes to keep them from overheating.
@PaulFellows34303 сағат бұрын
The registration plate is a Bristol one from 1968.
@asmgitalia185Сағат бұрын
Bristol is correct. On an F suffix it never reached the letters RHY so it's a registration purely for matchbox uses. RHY was used on the G suffix.

That restoration turns out wonderful. The color is beaautiful. But why do you touch the polished and shined up window section and car with bare fingers? You should wear plastic gloves to prevent any awful fingerprints on the finished car. Greetings from Germany to Down Under.

Two different axle diameters.....could it be that it had to different sets of wheels...? 16" in the front and 18" in the back ...just guessing... Still loving wat you're doing. Grtz , Jean, France.

RHY 72F is no longer a valid registration. RH the area designation, means the car was first sold / registration in HULL.
@asmgitalia185Сағат бұрын
designation is the 2nd and 3rd letters..so Bristol.
@stevenmanclark736119 минут бұрын
