Needed a POWERFUL actress like Revathi to deliver the justice to this STRONG role!! HATS OFF, to that wonderful actress! MUSIC by the Genius Maestro Ilayaraja was another key to this movie. Balu Mahendra remade this one as if he beautifully re-carved a colossal statue. Probably the movie where I could see some acting from Arvind Swami. Rohini and Nizhalgal Ravi also played their roles well.

But as usual nasamapona south media didnt give this movie as much credit as the Hindi original was given. Indha madiri karuthukal sonna paadhi peruku pudikardhu illa, onnu thulasi purushan oda serndhu vazhndhu irukanum illana gauri ya kalyanam panirkanum idhai dhan expect pannirupanga. Wish we have more sensible films like this - yadharthama padam edungapa. Salippu varudhu larger than life image and overhyped characters paathu paathu. Unmai varalaru base panni padam edunga, kaavingal base panni padam edunga. Hollywood, bollywood la kooda edukaranga ellathukum influence aagara tamizh industry indha area la mattum yen pin vaangaranga nu puriala?

There are more layers to this. 1. Rohini's character is driven by guilt and insecurity. This doesn't mean she is in her power. 2. Revathy's character might be right about not having to live with a surname or a husband that may not accept her but trying to shift her attention from a husband to a child is still codependency. She is still not empowered. She is merely delaying the possibility of living for herself. 3. She can say to Aravind Swami's character but let that not come from a space of a divorcee cannot remarry. No, she can marry him if she harbour's feelings for him but this time, she can still have him, the child and her too. That feels true empowerment.
