I really dont know why everyone running behind swift. as per my point of view the swift came in 2008-2009 period is safer than present generation swift. i am frequent traveller from bangalore to my native. i have seen many maruti cars accident and felt really sad seeing those condition of cars. my family met accident in alto still they surving hard to come out from that. car is totally crashed.what ever the new technoloy name they give they fail in safety standards. i know our indian people are fond of mileage of diesel cars. as per ARAI the new gen swift gives 28.4 kmpl but we need to understand one thing the fuel efficiency of cars depends on your driving style, how frequent u pay attention to your car's problem. everyone says maruti is cheap to maintain but after met accident with alto their customer care really sucks to get their help. i recently driven the new gen petrol swift i felt alto is better in all aspect. poor pickup if u want to get mileage then drive like snail oly ;) all i want to say is we get good mileage in all cars. reducing weight does improve mileage but safety is first in that case maruti is helpless. i own fiat punto 2009 model its kerb weight is 1200 kgs. i still achieve mileage of min 25 to 26 kmpl. So it better to buy safer vehicles thats more important for our family. the review is very good about. swift provides better reliable and riding comfort but it stays till 110 kmph. i love old swift than the new ones.. Crumble zone? hope ur no joking i can share you the accident which hapnd in my family you can think how this crumble zone really useful.. crumble zone is the term those marketing guys use to sell the car. their frame is totlly unstable during collisions. i wanted to add a incident happened to me in nh7 due to bad visiblity of barriage(no refelection sticker) i had hard brake on punto and stopped my car 10ft before the barriage but new gen wagaon r follwed n dashed on my car back side.. crumble zone of maruti really worked well they were busy in calling customer car since their front side totally crashed n car did not started.. i simply continued my journey to my home with small dent on boot door.

Cannot compare safety with weight bro. At what speed, wagon R hit you matters. Crumple zone is to save passengers but not the car. And of course, fiat is better in build quality.. but Swift's petrol engine is worth for money that's why it is having good sale not just in India and in the whole world. And maruti maintainence is best.
