MARUV - Siren Song | Reaction Video

In this very special episode (Ep 15) of our 'Eurovision 2019 Reaction Video Series' the reactors watch and give their opinions on, the winner of Vidbir 2019, MARUV with her song 'Siren Song'.
Filming for this video started prior to Ukraine announcing its withdrawal from Eurovision 2019. We decided to continue production and post it to show our support for the artist. We hope to see you in 2020 Ukraine.

Since she won't be going to Eurovision, the only rightful thing to do would let her perform as an interval act in one of the semi-finals or in the grand final. I hope they invite her, but I doubt it... 😔

Should be. But they didn't do that with Romania in 2016. And the artist was already travelling Europe on a promotional tour and doing the pre-parties when the EBU kicked Romania out.

@@lucyweaver7992 It was a different situation with Romania tho... The EBU themselves disqualified Romania because of financial debts. MARUV was invited by the Ukrainian broadcaster to participate in their NF, just to be dragged into the political mess that it turned out to be. They gave her an ultimatum; either sign the contract and do everything as we say, or we will find someone to replace you. She didn't do anything wrong, she was even willing to cancel her upcoming concerts in Russia, but aside from that, there were some disgusting orders that were demanded by the broadcaster in that contract.

I am from Ukraine. Normal people, stars of showbiz, we all support Maruv. Facking National Television of Ukraine. Its created so "devil contract" and Maruv had to refuse from eurovision but save honour. Great respect for it. We created the petition for her support and opportunity to take part in Eurovision. Now it has 18 000 signetures and close. Hope it will help us to see her in Eurovision.

И очень хорошо, что Марув не едет на Евровидение, не надо за весь украинский народ подписываться. Гляньте Дубинского, там хорошая аналитика. +я вижу по состоянию жизни и меня и населения насколько его "покращення" стали. Люди за копейки бьются. А Порох только богатет, увеличивая свое состояние. А кремлевские новости не смотрю, не сильно в курсе как там что. Иногда за Навальным приглядываю.

Да, в курсе-курсе! Можешь не перечислять. Но это не колаборант, можно любыми другими словами называть - коррупция, мошеничество и т.д., но интересы Украины в пользу Рашки мы пока еще не сдали. Вот поэтому и трясет от злости всю кремлевскую шантрапу. Там еще больше ждут наших выборов, чем у нас, авось не Порошенко будет, а другой президент, и "новенький" прогнется под Кремль. А я регулярно смотрю рашоСМИ, слушаю иногда сливной бачек - Скабееву (слышал о такой пропагандистке?), поэтому в курсе.

Maruv wasn't at false at all. The broadcaster invited Maruv in to the contest when Tayanna if that's her name didn't want to take a part of anymore. Broadcaster did know that Maruv is having concerts at Russia and that she is very popular in there. They just wanted to make a drama out of. Even Jamala know that Maruv is very popular in Russia so you can't tell me that the broadcaster didn't know about this.

Been listening to the song a lot, what a shame it won't be going to Eurovision, but think Ukraine withdrawing completely is the best decision. А Марув ездит с гастролями в страну-агрессор. Вот если бы у Марув сидел в окопе брат, отец и отбивал бы каждый день обстрелы российских оккупантов, то вряд ли бы она ездила на гастроли в Рашку. И еще. Я так думаю, что все это сказки, что ей НТКУ подсунул "дьявольский" контракт, как говорит Марув. Может это Марув "забила" на свою страну ради гастролей в Рашку? И у Марув песня, как песня. Если бы не раздули скандал, да никто не обратил бы внимание на Марув. Очень жаль, что TAYANNA отказалась участвовать в отборе на Евровидение, и вместо нее "засунули" эту Марув.

Performance was a bit too sexualised for the last minute or so. I'm not sure the EBU would have been entirely comfortable with it on a family show (it's definitely something that would attract complaints.....Poland 2014 was very mild in comparison).

While I agree with the beginning TED-talk, let's not think that the 1956 Eurovision was about "uniting Europe". Hell, they didn't even think they would do a comeback - it was meant to be a one-time thing. In fact, the Eurovision didn't allow the Eastern Bloc to participate. They just told them "Hey, make your own". And so they did - Intervision. And later, Intervision allowed the Western Europe countries to participate - so it was actually the Eastern Bloc Intervision that united Europe. The first time that Eurovision actually allowed Eastern countries to attend, was when communism fell. I don't want to sound like some "Eastern bloc lover", as I hated the executive managing of the USSR as I hate of the Russian Federation, I just want to show that it's not all black and white. But if you'd ask me, I would defenitely answer: Слава Україні!
