Today we will show you how to play Marvel Champions! I will be covering what comes in the base box set and we’ll be using Spider-man’s pre constructed deck vs Rhino. Hey mate. A bit late I know, but I just recently got into the game. I've watched some videos on 'how to play', yours is by far the best. Other 'experienced' online videos are too quick in their explanation, create confusion, can be condescending and make me switch off. I know there are a lot of rules; however, you take your time to explain, you are concise and you remove confusion where possible. Great video, more please.

Awesome match, thanks! By the way: Cosmic ward is a forced interrupt, so it’s not optional. You had to use it on the first encounter card which would have let him scheme which would have cascaded into more bad stuff (spells) 😅 But, yeah… it’s a difficult but very versatile deck…

At 1:02:59 you must do what it says before the Arrow in its entirety. If you cannot, you cannot do what it says on the right side of the Arrow. So in this case, since you were already Exhausted, your only option is to Discard 1 card at random from your hand and surge. Otherwise though great tutorial, great video :)

Hi, Very nice video. 1 small note maybe you already know that, since this video came out 8 months prior, but holding onto that Webkick didnt seem a good idea, since you blank yourself out of 1 resource. In my oppinion, you should have spent or discarded it because when you get to the point where you want to attack, you would have redrawn it anyways. Anyway keep up the good work :D

Hey! I know this was two years ago, but I hope I can ask a question. When the obligation came up and you flipped to Peter Parker side, you’d previously exhausted to defend. Could you count that toward the obligation? Or should you have been forced to take the second option since you were already exhausted? (I’m watching others play right now to try to catch what I’m doing wrong because my win rate is like 30%. it’s sad. So I’m wondering if I’ve been playing that part wrong as I would have gone to the bad choice assuming I couldn’t fulfill the first option on the obligation in the same situation as you were in.)

Hey that’s a great catch! Yeah I shouldn’t have been able to do that and I should have been forced to taken option two. They’ve updated the rules to be much more clear since this. Thanks for that, honestly. I’d really like to make an updated video. The game can be difficult. Just curious who are you playing? Who are you losing too. And how do you find yourself losing? Health or the main scheme?

@@DpadXP I’m about twenty games in and I’ve won 7ish of those. I’ve just been playing against Rhino, Klaw, and Green Goblin because I lose more than I win so haven’t moved on to other villains. (I think I’ve won both of my fights against green goblin risky business. I haven’t tried the second version in that scenario pack) I think I want to start in on the red skull campaign, but I’m not sure if it’s a huge jump up from the core box. (Also, haven’t faced ultron yet because I haven’t beat klaw yet.) I typically lose to scheme, though I’ve been KO’d a time or two. I’ve played a mix of true solo and two player-seem to win more two player than true solo. I’m still using pre-con decks because I’m still feeling things out and haven’t even played all the characters I own. I fell in love with the core box when it was first released, but then spent the last few years collecting it without actually playing much . . . Just getting back into it now and really getting punished by the villains. Looking at Bgstats, it looks like I’ve won using Captain Marvel, miles morales, Magick, scarlet witch, Thor, and ice man. I’ve lost using iron man (so many times) Peter Parker, black panther, ant man, phoenix, and wolverine (as well as sometimes with the ones I mentioned winning with. Lol). I’ve watched a lot of “rules you might be playing wrong” videos over the last week or two, and have now moved on to watching others play. I don’t think I’m getting the rules wrong, I think I just make poor choices in resource management. (Aka I’m just bad at the game. ROFL). I tend to prioritize attacks that hit hard instead of cards like allies that could hit and then soak damage for me, so I’m going to try to shift my focus and see if that works better. I’m thinking I likely change to alter ego to heal more often than I should (hence the scheme loses-though I admit I’ve had one or no scheme of rhino at the start of the villain phase before and still lost to scheme because I felt safe to go to alter ego and his boost was large and then he pulled a treachery that let him scheme a second time in one round and pulled another big boost card and that was game . . . ) looks like using allies more would help me prevent some of that damage so I have to shift down less. Do you have a tips for new players video?

So I just unboxed and getting ready to play for my first time…. Confused on what the pack of cards that come in the box is .. not Rhino, spider-man, or carol danvers… There’s a pack with the other heroes, she hulk etc … What’s the other pack of cards? Is that to build your own decks?

@@mazarmi Hey there, Great question! Those are other heroes you can play with. They come as “pre constructed decks” (often referred to as PreCon). You can play with them too! On the bottom of the heroe cards it will say something like, Spiderman 1/15. Those cards must be included with that hero. Aside from that you can mix and match other cards to make a deck. Your deck can be 40-50 cards, and you can only play one of the four aspects (Justice, aggression, protection, or leadership). You can also add basic cards in addition to the aspect you choose. Have fun with the game and feel free to ask questions!

When you defend somehow with event what would it do?

If you defend with an event you play it from your hand and follow it’s text. You don’t need to exhaust or anything. Is there a specific card you want to know about?

@@mabos555 got it. You can defend with events for as many cards as you have in your hand. I recently played a game with Spider-Man in a protection deck where all I did was play defensive events, and during my turn I had nothing to play. But the card needs to say something like, “when you’re attacked” or “when you defend”. And if the card says “when you defend” that means since your exhausting your hero, you can do that a second time, but you can stack them
