Marvel Crisis Protocol: Best and Worst Affiliations after the Crisis Card Update (Jan 2023)

With the new Crisis Cards in full swing and plenty of games now in twith then, we take a look at where we think the current Meta is in the game, and which affiliations are in a good spot!
Marvel: Crisis Protocol is a tabletop hobby miniatures game set in the Marvel Universe. Players assemble, paint, and collect an ever expanding line of highly detailed plastic miniatures representing iconic Marvel characters. Players choose characters from their collections to form their own Marvel inspired dream team and then pit their chosen forces against each other on an interactive tabletop where the very terrain itself can be thrown, crashed into, and destroyed during the super powered showdown!

I'm wondering if with Emma Frost coming with a leadership card that soon all leaderships will just be cards and leadership cards won't count towards your TTC totals. That way you save space on character cards and could potentially give characters more powers or abilities.

lol So me and one of my buddies jumped in together about a month ago, maybe 2. So far he's won 7 out of 8 games... He went with brotherhood and I went with black order. Sad times for me lol.

Corvus’ leadership is really good for the type of play that BO wants: getting power and killing people. Everyone gaining power everytime an enemy drops, is great for that. Between that and the power stone, there were multiple rounds in my game yesterday where Black Swan used “Everything Dies” twice. That was 4 attacks each turn. She killed Hulk in two turns. The problem is, like you said, you can’t win that way anymore. I’ve been running Corvus, Proxima, Ebony Maw, and Black Swan for a while now and, they have absolutely no issues when it comes to killing people. They just get out scored before they can get everyone, and despite dropping people left and right, I’ve never managed to win with them.

With Red Skull and Hydra agents you can get World domination to go off 1st activation of the game if you are playing Mayor Fisk and have priority. Only 1 VP but everyone gets 1 Power as well. Leaves Red Skull sitting a bit close to the middle of the table though!

Sins leadership needing lucky dice you makes it all too weak sauce. If you could have paid a power to do her leadership effects that would have swung her I believe.

I skimmed through Spider-Woman's card reveal transmission and they specifically mentioned Avengers, Shield, and Hydra as groups she's been with. I'm going to assume she'll be with those 3 plus A-Force. No character has 5 affiliations so I doubt she'll be a Web Warrior.

I unfortunately do not agree with your placement on the Corvus Glaive leadership card. I feel it is a B rank myself. If it becomes a free tactics card then I would raise it to an A rank. Other than that great video and keep up the great work!

What are you doing with Strucker that makes you think he's S-tier? Honestly curious. I would have put him in D. His leadership doesn't work if you daze or KO a model, you have to deal damage to trigger the condition transfer, you can't get rid of conditions the target already has (like incinerate on demons) and incremental healing is the worst it's ever been. Incredibly confused to see it above Storm, for example. Even if you're getting multiple procs every turn, it's just mathematically worse than Storm giving free blocks out on most attacks.

what are the best minis to buy from this game to make a team with? I've not really played any games other than GW ones (been playing on and off since 2nd ed 40k) but I love these marvel minis and would love to get some. just not sure what to get.

It really depends on your play style or if there are any particular affiliations/characters you have an affinity too. Right now GOTG, Crim Sin and X-Men are some of the stronger ones, but it’s constantly changing. Steves Avengers is a great entry level affiliation, plus comes with the core box.

@@RichMidGaming I like the star lord mini. star lord is usually strong in most games TBH because of his elemental guns. in ultimate alliance 3 he's one of the best because his can add elemental damage to a lot of characters attacks (this is a computer game though) TBH all of the minis are really nice. I was wanting to do an X-men team as well for sure.

My biggest problem with Weapon Xs leadership is that unaffiliated characters can’t benefit from it. Than add in it costs a TTC and the cost for the leadership is way too much.

Definitely a strong leadership, but nowhere near the best in the game. Plus it suffers from opportunity cost - it count as one of your 5 tactics cards just to get a leadership, so that drags it down quite a bit. So yes, we’re being serious.

Ok, so firstly we were ranking the affiliations under a given leadership. And right now Convocation has a 51% ranked win rate under the new Crisis Cards - so slap bang B tier. We actually got Steves Avengers wrong, as we put them in B, but with only a 42% win rate they should be C tier - but either way, Convo are in a better place than Steves Avengers.

@@RichMidGaming my solution would be if he's taken as leader then he's a threat 4. So he's still a 5 threat avenger say. But he's arguably better value in avengers than as leader of his own affiliation. Threat 4 would serve him well I think.

Magneto is the strongest character in the game and one less threat than malekith, throws, full dice reroll, 6 defense across the board, a recycling card that gives cover, brings the asteroid M card to put him in crazy position, but everyone cries about malekith, malekith shouldn't of been touched, he is a 7 threat and needs to feel like a 7 threat, before malekith's nerfs magneto melts malekith, nerfs are seriously so annoying, they made it a way for a reason, people that cry about it just need to think more and prep how to beat things, they can bring up any of the lacking models they want at anytime, no need to bring something down, I can see a nerf coming to new modok and immortal hulk, just because the way people are, they aren't even released and I already know how to get around, no reason others can't figure it out too, sorry for the rant but there is no reason to nerf anything ever, bring things up

Have to disagree on Mags been the strongest in the game. He’s not even the strongest 6 threat. As for melting Malekith, pre nerf Mags couldn’t use rerolls, that an average damage of 1.24 each attack into him - meaning he needs 8 attacks on average to take him down. Yes he can throw stuff, but Malekith still has 4 defence and can still explode failures, that most definitely isn’t ‘melting’
