@ I don't think that is fair to the character's numbers back when he headlined in Ultimate Spider-Man. Comic book collector's are completionists and I have to assume Miles is carrying readers from his Ultimate run. Then, when Sony put out the Spider-Verse franchise, that had to bring in a few readers. Marvel has shown they have a limit to low sales with Ms Marvel and Carol Marvel, Gwenpool and Spider-Gwen. And Miles keeps getting picked up. But I maintain his numbers would be better if he was back in the original Ultimate Comics Imprint.

No offense to Miles, I believe he's deserving of being Top 5 Spider-Man, but I honestly think Spider-Man 2099 was deserving of being "The Other Spider-Man" or "The Spider-Man that shows up with Peter everywhere". Maybe it's just me, but man, the Characters that stands out the most for 2099's Comics are literally original characters, including Miguel himself. I loved how he started out being a character who didn't want to be Spider-Man, but seeing how much Hope and Life he's bringing to Downtown after what Alchemax has done to them, is what made him remain as Spider-Man! One Character I loved was Flipside, because it felt like he's dealing with a weird version of Peter Parker's Spider-Man. I read all of Flipside's voices as Chris Dan Barnes'.

He wasn't being mentioned ANYwhere after that comic Glad the spiderverse movies brought him back although they lowkey tried to insult his character in Across the Spiderverse by Miles questioning his identity as a spiderman...when he's literally a better spiderman than EVERYONE outside of Peter💀🤦‍♂️

Miguel gets the opposite treatment, where he was the guy who had your back for YEARS, your main homie, the one guy who knew you so well when everyone else thought you're normal, only for you to forget he exist and move on to be some Child who's like a Decade Younger. Miguel should, in my opinion, be with Peter from time to time. Not everywhere like a Married Couple like how Miles is treated with Peter, of course, but enough to be a friend who comes to visit you. My hot take is: put Miles to be on his own adventures, building his own rogues gallery, and exploring what makes Miles, Miles. Bring in Miguel O'Hara, who already has everything down, including his own Rogues Gallery and what drives him to be Spider-Man.

I got u, man I wish I was a comic book writter My idea for Miles was to make him a mutant who just happen to have similar powers to spiderman and i would call him Spiderbolt and his mutant powers will activate when his heart stops. His mutant power will be similar to what his actual powers are but i would make it a little different starting with his spider senses. It would actually be a low level telepathy that acts like spider senses but it can block mind control attacks, his electric powers would be from regular blue ( low shock to high level ripping through steel) and orange electric which would be able to go from temporarily or peremently stunting a opponents powers, that can damage or remove regeneration healing powers, or effecting intangible beings. He can stick to wall like Peter can but he can control his own gravity to stick to walls using his electricmantic field. Story: he would wake up go to school with riri Williams (Iron Heart) since they're friends and possibly will be a love interest. After school he would tutor with Peter and then a mutant extremist terrorist attack will happen at his school which would lead Miles to get shot from saving his friend. He will be taken to the hospital then he will die and his heart will stop. But then his mutant power will activate shooking his heart back on as he wakes up alive and then he would notice changes to his body like Spiderman did. That would be the start but later he will also have gadgets that can hurt regenerative self healing opportunets and metal degrading gadgets and has the antivenom symbiote Villians: Minator would be a Rhino/red hulk type of villian that has a transformation that allows him to change his body into a abomination that will only activate when in pain and will get stronger when fought. Orka is a villain who was a scientist and a mentor to another villian who would study Atlantian children to understand why they live longer but his student will betray him and turn him into a alantian monster who is a alian like being that evolves when it hunts and eats and has a toxic venom that paralyzed and decay opponents. Sledge: is a leader of a mutant hunting extremist group who is like a bane type of villian who uses a gravity hammer to rip through super powered beings. Doc: is a human villian with no powers but a lot of money who happen to be the Student who betrayed his teacher and turned him into Orka. Now he wants to start a war with alantians and create a bio weapon disease that will kill most humans leaving a few so he can create the cure so he can be the savior since he has a god complex. Gargoyle: a mutant experiment used by the extremist group who is used to hunt mutants. It has powers to explode living or non living things from the inside out. Speed blits: A character who has a zone around him that can freeze time that allows him to be a speedster type character but within this zone around him can freeze or speed up time to kill or rapidly age anything or freeze him place to kill. Side characters: Riri Williams (Ironheart): Miles Spiderbolt friend but doesn't know his real identity nor does he knows hers but they sometimes work together. Her armor is made from a sentinal suit made to hunt and evolve to mutants. Spidergewn: a black cat type of character that also helps Miles sometimes when she wants.

Miles Morales may not have been iconic until Across the Spiderverse movie. His movie franchise is Sony's last grasp on their claim to Spider-Man. I feel bad because Miles Morales' current comic has no traction with general audiences while the movies are making waves. You know? I have an idea that would've been crazy for miles. Since the maker reestablished the ultimate universe, Miles should've been sent back due to his belonging there in the first place. Changes. 1: Instead of Peter being Spider-Man, the timeline alters drastically by having Miles get bit by the radioactive spider on an Oscorp internship. We get to have Peter Parker be happy and free from being from the Spider-Man mantle for once. Outside of him taking pictures and eventually encountering Miles during a bank robbery. 2: Rio dies while Jefferson lives. This puts a HEAVY spin on Miles's character arc and development to becoming Spider-Man not just for Harlem but for New York. This would put the perspective for a single father and widow, having to be a Police Officer and try to raise his son the best way he could. 3: Phin & Miles. (since she's a part of Insomniac's lore) could've been seen through high school as best friends, and she could've taken either the role of "The Chair" or some assistance to Miles with his villains. We would've had a ton of nerdy moments and collaboration. 4: Gwen & Miles. You can either do one or two things. Make Gwen be his "Black Cat" or his love interest. (She would be around the same age.) This would tackle more into someone being inspired to be a superhero and an arc of that. Just my yap. I got more.

I personally believe its editorial and higher direction that is holding the comic back. Every arc after Rabble is tie in issues pretty much. I want them to let Ziglar cook away from the tie ins

As far as the "new suit" trend, that is marketing and likely oushed by the publisher. Seems like the writer is being constrained. I remember being into GI Joe and He-man as a kid and the toy manufacturer's kept putting characters in a new outfit. For instance, Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes. It means Miles is more than a comic book character but a merchandising property. Also, look at how Static changed costumes from his original comic to the cartoon.

I haven't read the comics but I definitely agree that he needs some more things to set himself apart from Peter aside from new suits and powers. He doesn't need a new name or anything but I'd love to see more of his own villains rather than just taking on villains that apply to both him and Peter. He needs to run into obstacles both with and without the mask and find ways to work around them. Also, it's ironic how a big part of being Spider-Man (or any hero for that matter) is finding the balance between your life and responsibility and yet, they seem to only throw him into situations where being Miles is just secondary. He's still a great character but he has room to grow and it feels like the comics aren't really capitalizing on that as much as the games and movies have.

Miles has rabble, the assesor, and salim/the clones. He has an interesting set of side characters. Even exploring his powers makes sense. Peter also explored his spider sense at some point. He even had organic webs before. Peter has been through the same stuff with the suits. Look at that late dan slott run. He had a bunch of suits. Most of them, like miles, had a specific purpose. Stealth suit, when he lost his spidey sense, ones for specific villains. If you don’t like miles story/direction cool. But some of these talking points are just disingenuous.

Been saying this and people keep harping that I just don't like Miles because he's Black. Nah bro, I don't like Miles because he's not Peter Parker, and everyone at Marvel (and Miles fans) want to convince me he is. But I'm willing to compromise. In fact, I would like the character a lot more and I legit think it would *benefit* Miles if he was separated from Peter and the name Spider-Man. At this point he has a whole new set of powers, just give him a new codename and send him to another city like, idk, LA or Detroit. So long as he carries that name, Miles will live in Peter's shadow, and that ironically locks him in the same status quo box Peter is rn. Neither characters are allowed to grow or develop in any way, and when they do, it gets rolled back down the line. The new power-ups are just lazy writing, and it happens all over Marvel. Look at Captain Marvel, for example. Then there's the tie-ins and team ups, another attempt to boost sales. If he can't stand on his own, then why not put him on a team?

the only people that seem to know what to do with his character are the people who made the spiderverse movies, the spiderverse version of miles has the most unique and interesting personality by far, the rest of miles' other iterations have very bland personalities and the people writing those other versions of miles have no creativity whatsoever. I dont think Miles in the comics (right now atleast) is boring or bland, I just think that his character has gotten little to no development in recent years, and whenever he does get a little bit, its interrupted by a suit change, power upgrade, or event tie in. Im going to be honest, i think Ziglar is better than Bendis. While i like Bendis, his Miles Morales his pretty bland, and basically just black peter parker. Ziglar's miles is alot more unique, has great lingo and swag, but it doesnt excuse the lack of character development, and shoehorned cameos and suit changes.
