Marvel Legends ARCADE Action Figure Review

As a customizer, I love white plastic because it can be dyed so this makes a great fodder body for any suited character I want to make. I'm going to use one of these for a President Loki. I'd rather do my own dry brushing or wash to give it shading if I want but I recognize most collectors won't do that. If there was factory paint shading I'd have to remove that before dying the figure.

OMFG yes this. Being able to just dye is so much easier than having to paint over dark plastic and worry about rub. Still sitting on a few Daggers because it's the closest we got to a standard all-white female buck. Unfortunately there really isn't a good figure to stockpile when it comes to standard all-white male buck.

@@arthurchen6464 white suit Deadpool is cool but you have to deal with the neck and he's harder to find and typically more expensive for fodder since he was only available in the deluxe package. I'm using him for a Mr Negative but he's not exactly stockpile material.

@@mkl4466 Oh I meant more the basic/naked/spandex buck. The new white Magneto comes pretty close, if it weren't for the bracers.

@@arthurchen6464 I'm going to use the Magneto body for one or two customs: Future Foundation Spidey and The Spot. Get a spare Guardian (Alpha Flight) and steal his forearms. They are white with red paint that can be removed with acetone and fit just fine on the Magneto body.

Lol Anthony I'm just going to save you some time in the future and answer your question. Yes, lots of people want these more obscure characters. People who collect the ML line primarily get bored of the usual A-listers that get made over and over and they really want 1) villains, because we usually get more heroes than villains, and 2) obscure characters, because they fill out the collection. Most people also care more about having a bad figure of a character they want personally than a good figure of a character they already have. Collectors are like that, especially ML collectors, many of whom are long-time comic readers who really want to have as many different characters as possible, from the comics.

I was just about to say exactly this. Does Anthony just want every wave of ML to be a Captain America, a Iron Man, a Spider-Man and a Wolverine? Seems like the first words in literally every review he does that isn't an A-lister are "did anybody want this character?" 😂

@@Eriktheduck Lol he did say exactly that pretty much. He said he'd much prefer a good, well-made Wolverine or Spider-man over a well-made figure of a C-list character, because he think the A-listers deserve to have more budget and attention put into them. And he's not wrong. Hasbro has a tendency to say "fuck it" and just go cheap with more popular characters, knowing people will buy them regardless of quality, while they for some odd reason puts a lot of budge in the form of unique sculpts or better engineering/articulation in more obscure and one-off characters. I can understand why as a collector of many lines (ML being just one of many and not nearly his favorite) Anthony can be really frustrated with what Hasbro does, I just think he should get it by now that ML collectors want certain things out of the line that he who isn't an ML collector (primarily) won't ever find appealing. And that's just how things are.

I would rather have shading but this is okay to me. I like this guy, just looking at him you can already imagine what kind of persona Arcade has. I am glad to have him, was never expecting to see a figure of him. Thats one thing I do like about Marvel Legends, every once in a while one of these type of characters gets a release. Its great. 👍 Very fair review, the figure is fine to me as well.

By itself, Arcade's not very dynamic figure. BUT...if he came with some deadly amusement park accessories, a la the Joker, or if it was a deluxe set with an amusement park death trap, that would have made the difference.

It’s accurate to the comics, kinda boring villain. But I want all X- Men villains even the obscure. It filled a hole like Black Tom, hoping they put out more retro X-Men waves like Spider-Man and circle back around to a magneto, apocalypse, mystique etc.

I like the alternate head better as well. I have Arcade on the shelf with the BAF Kingpin, although I imagine the colors might match up better with the retro release. I like the obscure characters when they are done well. I think this one is pretty damn good for what it is and I didn't hesitate to find a spot on my overflowing shelves for him. As for shading, there are certainly many Marvel Legends that would benefit from it, but I will apply shading myself, or have someone more talented than I do so, if I think it's important enough. Given the price point and what would be sacrificed(even less accessories) to fit it into Hasbro's budget, I'd rather not have it.

Hey, Anthony, you got an ML Ultron review on the way? There's some weirdness going with the paint/dye that I can't puzzle out. He's SOLID silver. Not even a hint of marbling. Touch texture is satin, but it couldn't be that he's covered literally head-to-toe with that famous Hasbro metallic paint... could it? Whatever it is, it looks amazing.

I know about this character from some of the trading cards I had as a kid and a little bit of the cartoons but personally I would’ve rather of had a figure of Toad or an Ulimates or Evolution Style Sabretooth since I never liked his look in the comics that much.

This character is supposed to be shorter , right? His head/ neck could def. be lower on the shoulders too. I'm usually all for shading , but I'm ok with this. Maybe a black/ dark grey dry brush for the crevices? I grew up seeing Spiderman and Xmen battle Arcade in the video game, but didn't really have any other attachment to him. This character is lame with out his actual Arcade of game traps to get heros tripped up. 6/10 nice head sculpts!

I'm personally all about obscure characters. I don't want another Spider-Man, but I do want every Spidey villain. As for Arcade, X-Men related characters are always popular with fans.

I skipped this figure. I wouldn't mind getting an Arcade, but isn't this figure way too tall? I always thought he was short and wore platform shoes. I do like the look of this figure and I like the clean white look, but I don't want an Arcade figure bad enough to buy this tall guy.

Your Arcade has an error with one of the shoulders. They assembled your figure with the same part for both arms. I believe the left shoulder is the correct piece because of the sculpt and older suit figures. An interesting thing about the BAF of this wave is that it reuses Sasquatch's shoulders but they're flipped.

Once again, the reviewer's disinterest in a character clouds his review. If you ever wanted an Arcade figure, it's going to be hard to top this one. We saw the same thing with the videos on Stilt-Man and the classic "trolling" video on Kang. As to the question... Some subtle shading might be nice, but this looks just fine.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly did Anthony say in the review of the 7/10 figure make you think his review is clouded. To me the negatives pointed out are more mentioned for the average person not aware of the character who would have to be sold on buying the figure. Aside from that everything else that was mentioned was pretty good, only thing maybe missing was a statement at the end saying that if you're a fan of the character you'd probably be satisfied with the release.
