Hasbro forgetting how to do butterfly joints is yet another development on their path of regression. They USED to do really good metallic paints. I'm also neutral about Skaar, he does have a cool design I think. I quite like this figure and want to buy it just because it looks cool. Skaar, if I'm not wrong, was conceived in Sakkar where the whole Planet Hulk storyline took place. Basically Hulk was in control during his time there, became a gladiator, freed a bunch of other gladiators and got married to a local woman named Caiera. Also at the beginning of the story it is established that alien weapons can hurt Hulk, so it is safe to assume that you can tattoo his son as well with alien materials :)

The butterfly joint's movement backwards is being inhibited by the shoulder pin that is plugged into the butterfly, its the same situation as on the figures on the Vulcan buck. Heat and pop the arms out from the butterflys, cut the shoulder pin shorter, and reinsert, much better movement.

Q of the Day: I’m truly ambivalent about the character. I’ve never read a single comic with him in it. Hulk and Thor are two characters that I could never get into as a Marvel kid in the 70s and 80s outside of their Defenders and Avengers appearances. I get the character choice, though. I’m sure it will sell better than most of the characters on my want list.

I like the look of the character and this figure. I am still fed up with Hasbro using dated articulation. At least the ab crunch doesn't have a massive cavity when you use it. Of course it won't hold the full position; so ome step forward, one step back. I think it was Collector Express that reviewed this. His Scar had one leg longer than the other. I pretty much agree with Anthony grading figures just within a range; although a comparison with Jada's Street Fighter figs would be ok. Same scale and around the same price, although Jada is often cheaper and has more accessories. This figure having weapons, alt hands and hed is a decent spread. I still think it's ober priced. I do want to see how much Jada will sell their bigger figures for.

I still stand by rating figures that are the same price point on the same scale as they are and should be directly comparable. As you always give figures scores between 7 and 9.5 and the occasional 1 or 2 for spite points as you say, you're not implementing the full range of the scale anyway so it really wouldn't make a difference if all Legends were at 4 to 6 rather than 7 to 9 with the additional context that there are better things out there at the same price point that score higher.

@JamezuHeroLD3 ай бұрын
@@suhtangwong Fair enough but like I said I was basing that original comment more on Anthony's assessment of them more than my own because even if using my suggested changes to his rating system it would still be based on his views. Perhaps I should have said proportions instead of sculpt which is more what I was thinking of. Having said that I think that the Jada figures are more consistent. What I can't stand with Legends are things like the latest Vision and Angel figures having part of the gloves sculpted and the rest painted on, or some figures having sculpted detail to their costume like the 97 Wolverine and Magneto's trunks on the hip pieces while the Cyclops from the following set uses the old style. The Jada faces could definitely be better but like Anthony has said in his reviews, the Legends have a very realistic look to their faces that doesn't match their more cartoon like bodies that well. They might have better aspects but definitely more issues and inconsistencies overall.

Though I enjoyed the idea of him being in the savage land for a while too. But Skaar isn't a bad character. I liked the relationship between him and Banner. Threw most that run Banner was human unable to become Hulk. Skaar did have the human form of a 12-year-old boy. LOL a 12-year-old boy with the same Tattoo markings and black eyes with green pupils. The tattoo isn't a tattoo. They are birth markings. His mother was an alien of Sakaaran shadow people gifted with Old power (kinda like earth powers to control land and rocks. Skaar can tap into old power. So he is human/alien hybrid that turns into a Hulk. He has a twin brother that looks completely like his mothers race but does not turn into a Hulk. But he is more powerful in old power.

I think it’s fair to say “X/10 in a given area for domestic, 6” scale” is fine. It’s when you give legends, and only legends, a special higher-than-they-should-be rating just because legends are worse value per dollar. Comparing legends to say a Hot Toys 1/6 figure is crazy, but comparing it to comparable figures (Jazwares Halo, Jada street fighter, GI Joe classified and Black Series), that makes sense. I think it would be a more accurate reflection of where they stand personally.

I think having rating systems exclusive to each line shows how arbitrary it is. If a NECA figure gets a 5, is it still better than an 8 ML? Is a 4 for Jada better than a 9 Marvel Legends? Would a 15 (I know that's not a score) for Mcfarlane be better than a 5 for SHF? Is 6 for SHF Naruto equal to a 6 for SHF One Piece? They're both SHF lines, but Naruto figures have been consistently better than One Piece figures, so are they differently because of it? Are Jada SF and Mega Man rated on the same scale? It's the same company, but different lines. Would a 0 for Mafex be a worse figure compared to 0 for Storm? At what point would any of these lines equal each other?
@AnthonysCustoms3 ай бұрын
The answer to all your questions is maybe. The ratings aren't arbitrary just because they aren't universal. They're one of many tools to help people make comparative judgements. It's almost always silly to compare relatively dissimilar things. That's why i rarely compare across different price points or styles.
@VelosoftheDeep3 ай бұрын
If Marvel Legends were on the same rating scale as higher end figures, I don't think they'd only be in a range from 1-2. Some of the best ones would probably be a bit higher than a 2. 😄 Though what I'd actually like to see is someone rating figures on a monetary scale rather than an abstract scale. If the reviewer says a basic Legend is only worth $10, people will know the reviewer is basically recommending to pass or see if it hits clearance stores. If the reviewer rates a basic Legend $17 then it's more like a wait for a sale recommendation. Maybe a few would even get the coveted $25 rating, actually worth the current MSRP.
