My favorite modern armor with how inspired it is from the comic armor design. Super cool to see you review this. Wish they fixed up the eyes as its the most glaring feature to me but love the overrall look.

Updates I will do myself once I get it: - Paint mandible section in red - Paint shoe base in gold - Dark wash to add more detail - Maybe an overall gold repaint, closer to the Modular one. Can't wait to add this to my hall of armor.

Something I'm tempted to do once I get one is paint it to look like one of the Alex Ross covers. Almost cell-shaded if you get what I mean

Gold is the jaw's correct color. Despite the interior art coloring inconsistencies, Alex Ross paints it gold, and he's the creator of the armor. The soles also don't need to be repainted. They started out gold, but eventually even Alex Ross started painting them red in his covers.

Alex Ross paints the jaw gold, so I would say that's how it's supposed to be despite the interior art coloring inconsistencies. As for the soles, they started being gold, but even in Ross' covers, he eventually started painting them red. A fun fact is that if you compare the preview pages of Captain America/Iron Man #1 to the final release, you can see Marvel actually went ahead and recolored the soles from gold to red.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who wishes the eyes were thinner. Literally every Alex Ross image of the armor shows the eye slits are as thin as the mouth. Can't wait to get this, but that head will be personally hard to overlook on my shelf. I also agree that the 80th paint job would have looked amazing on the new figure--they're both Alex Ross inspired, so it would have made the new figure a great match up to display.

I saw that Headsculpt and immediately saw Alex Ross' design and all I could think of is, "want, want, want now". I agree with all you said... This is a good 3d representation of the figure but it looks off because of the paint scheme. Like I said, I saw Ross' work and with that comes with a more metallic look and that is what would have made this much better. I also kept looking at that shoulder and was dreading the articulation part. It looks good and tight when not in use but it looks warped as you're lifting that shoulder. I wish they could have done a better design but it is Hasbro so I'm sure having added articulation was out of their budget restraint; i'm just glad they added back the wrist articualtion.

Eye holes need to be thinner, the red needs to be a Wine Red or Dark Cherry Red. Gold parts need to be a bit desaturated. If they do that, this figure would be a perfect rendition of the comic. A tony stark head also would be nice but the 20th anniversary head should suffice.

I mean with the red you could always do a custom repaint on the red and mask the gold a little more Glossy to make the shine

Doing the feet can be tricky, I got him a couple of months ago and tried a gold sharpie but it didn't quite dry, but recently I used yellow, then re-added the gold and it dried and gives a nice sheen.

With the large black eye slits this has a Skeletor vibe. I'm unfamiliar with this version of Iron Man but it looks pretty cool. Glad to see they gave him repulsor blast hands with hinges. Finally! That head and neck articulation looks splendid.

Love this Retromod design. Happy to see us get this figure. Alex Ross' design really pops. Just wish they'd have put eyes in the helmet. That was a major part of the design. Going back to the old Iron Man suits where we could see his eyes. Also wish made it with a darker red and given the figure a black wash to bring out all those segments.
