I think the main reason they released a lot of this wave is for the people who had a hard time getting a "classic" Wolverine, Rogue, Mags or Gambit. Especially in places like Africa - those figures are either impossible to find or just ridiculously priced. This will be my first Magneto and I'm stoked!

Rogue and Gambit are pretty easy to get, heat claws Wolverine is still relatively cheap, a classic Magneto is the only exception to the rule but I feel whenever they do rereleases they're always better than the originals.

This definitely needed a release. For newer collectors, there are no good options for a classic Magneto.

The Mafex one is the perfect classic/quintessential Magneto. Although, not everyone can afford to order a $85 figure....so I get it.

Another cool thing about this version, the keeper shaped nicer. Obviously a cloth wired cape would've been much preferred, but hasbro don't roll that way. And, I definitely like the way the face looks in this one a lot more than that 3-pack version.

MAFEX still has the crown, but this isn’t too bad. Hasbro should have included an un-helmeted photo real head like they did with the Wolverine in this wave.

Absolutely. Even when it's a big character that they make undersized (Venom & Thor), I still consider them the definitive versions. Ball joints galore, the aesthetics look vastly better, they pose like butter, get filled with hands and unique effect pieces, and they never skimp out on the soft goods material. The value is so much more there with them compared to hasbro. The craziest thing is today I saw the 3 3/4" Luke & Grogu pack....and it's $27.99!! That might be the most outrageous priced hasbro thing I've ever seen.

The figure could have been good, but the proportions are just off. The additional sculpt to the hips for the trunks is a nice touch on Magneto and Wolverine. Also the cape being light, keyed into the chest, and flared at the shoulders are fairly bjg improvements.

The proportions are definitely off. Better than the Family Matters 3 pack version for sure, but still in need of improvements. Also, I wish they'd stop with the "lipstick".lol Hasbro and McFarlane kill me with coloring the lips, it's unnecessary and kills the aesthetic imo.

I believe releasing a new Magneto action figure is a good move, especially for fans of the classic version. This is unlike three of the last four Storm figures that repeat the same costume. While the Age of Apocalypse Magneto shares a color scheme with the classic version, they are distinct costumes. This is what the VHS wave should have been. Ditch the cellshading nonsense and commit to the comic design. Storm and Gambit should gotten new bodies but it is what it is.

I love how the reds on this Mags look more matte than the glossier Family Matters one. Still adore my Toybiz Magneto after all these years, but tempted to at least get one to keep MOC.

I do only have the Age Of Apocalypse Magneto figure from the AOA Colossus BAF wave but to me, I might to have try to get this Magneto figure to use as a comic version because the cartoon is mostly to me based on Jim Lee's designs for the characters IMO.

Just to correct you on Magnetos helmet paint, in the original comic introduction of Magneto in 1963 his horned part of his helmet is red and is pretty much always red in the comics so the X-Men 97 Magneto is actually more comic accurate than the family matters 3 pack Magneto. In 75-90% of his comic appearances his helmet horns are always red only the frame around his face is purple! So the family matters Magneto is not accurate to the comics!

I feel like I’ve been spoiled by jada and mcfarlane (on a good day)’s use of much softer plastic for capes/clothing. Magneto looks good but even if the cape is lighter than the previous one, it still looks pretty chunky/heavy enough to unbalance him. I’m finding it increasingly hard to go back to MLs after the torso set up/range and less harsh detents of those other two lines too (or even classified/lightening collection). Kinda hoping ML do a ‘2.0’ body construction sometime soon. I do like how they handled the shadow on the face though. Ta for the review!

Generally it looks like a big improvement on the old ones. Bigger and more muscular. I wish it had the same articulation as Jada's Streetfighter 2 figs. I was thinking the arms looked a bit too long but after watching your vid I'm unsure. Power effects and an unhelmeted head would've been cool.

I'm glad to get this figure the other one's legs are way too skinny, I like them new thigh pieces they put on him and the new chest piece, the older one his costume looks empty with all those wrinkles and not enough musculature making him look weaker I think this one is the superior Magneto

Nice review! My complains about the new figure is the red gloves and lack of accessories such as alternate unmasked head and magnetic effects. I know the red gloves are because it Animated based, but it would be nice to have the comic colors accurated. Anyway, it's a great improvement from 3 pack version, mainly for the cape. I have the Marvel Select one in my collection, maybe I'll replace by this new one.

This is the one I really wanted to see. The hip to leg match is closer than I thought, but the arms are still too long. I think they Frankensteined him to make him pinless. Question: I know the cape is keyed in, but is it removable?

You kind of answered your own question bud, if it's keyed in then it's not removable. I get the confusion though since it also has a peg but I guess that's for stability? I don't know but it's more than likely not removable like classic Dr. Strange's cape.

I think classic Magneto is essential enough to keep available and refreshed. The Family Matters set was an exclusive and runs for a lot now. AOA is not even the same version. You can kinda-sorta fudge it in a pinch I guess. I bought this at Target a few days ago as an update for the FM set one (which may get the unmasked head from one of the modern versions and stay in the display). Pinless joints and the keyed-in cape make it a worthy upgrade even though the red hands are a bit of a bummer. Just picked up the Wolverine today so these two will go straight to my main 90s X-Men display.

I like what they did with the tights on wolvy and Magneto, the cape here does look to fit better. I do love pinless but in this day and age of prices and space, I just have to pass, the 3 pack will suit me enough for now. Great review!

While I'm fine with the AoA Magneto I may get this guy to be more classic, some easy improvements would be to use the purple hands from AoA Mags and Havok's power effects, they seriously should start packing Magneto with those effects.

They gotta fix the horrendously oversized inflexible cape and add butterfly joints to the shoulders. I gave up on Hasbro making a classic comics accurate Magneto anytime and just kitbashed the MS head onto a repainted AOA body.

I have not been happy with any of the Magneto options yet so Im not mad about a new one. Just this aint it for me. The new cape is great, but the new torso just doesnt look right, especially next to the box art. I dont know if its too small or what, but the arms and legs look way too long. 90s and animated Magneto is a big guy compared to a lot of the cast. And theyve yet to really give me something Im happy with. It sucks theyve got all the accessories to make an awesome deluxe Magneto

About a year or so ago, I made a custom ML deluxe Magneto, using the Storm Collectibles Omega Rugal effect for his shield. I show him with all of the options that an official release could come with. Wish Hasbro would take notes and go that route!

Cool wave but Hasbro is becoming stingy with accessories. A helmet holding piece as a changeable hand would have been nice with an unhelmeted magneto head or his signature force field. These figures are 30+ w/ tax so I expect thoughtful execution. They stopped giving rogue un-gloved hands for the past few releases (AoA, Outback, Pyro 2 pack) and Bishop has energy blasting powers which they could have made an effect for. I do like that storm has blue in her eyes instead on the white look but the line feels flat. I def want Bishop, Rogue. Wolerine and Magneto . Will probably just hang them on the wall. lol

Why are you complaining that there are multiple red and purple Magnetos? Nobody forced you to buy it. It's a chance for people who missed out on it(like myself) to get it. If your satisficed with the other magnetos, you can pass on this one. It doesn't even have a BAF. I'm not saying you can't have your opinion. Go ahead and complain if you want. But, It's really a non-issue.

So many errors in this video. Head isn't a dumbbell, I'm looking right at the disc for the better articulation, if it was on the bell it wouldn't look up or down cause that's a dumb choice they made for figures.

I've been collecting since the family matters three pack and I still don't have a Magneto yet. Despite having the option, none of these Magentos have looked good to me. I don't know why Hasbro has such a hard time with him. The proportions on this one are whack. His torso looks small and his limbs look long and lanky , especially his arms. His elbows are lower than his waist. I blame Bobby and Anthony for helping me see these things, but I wish they could get it right because I still want a Magneto because this ain't it

Loving this New Magneto Figure 👍, especially with the smaller Bolts and Fixed On Cape 👌. The three pack version has bigger Bolts on the chest plate, it seems too big in my opinion. The Animated Version is better fit 👌.
