Marvel Multiverse RPG Random Character Creation

I get started with the new Marvel Multiverse Roleplaying Game by creating a character…randomly!
I knew I wanted to create a young character who's discovering their powers. The rest was left up to the dice!

This is a neat idea. Maybe when an Eternal was resurrected, something went wrong and they ended up in Hell, gaining some powers before coming back. However they don't remember what they did in hell or what deals they made because their memory back-up didn't have what they did in the afterlife. Maybe it was damaged, and they have no memories, hence the whole 'being a kid discovering themselves'. Love this random character creation and how it all worked out.

Good ideas! I didn't wanna lock down any of that stuff because I might want to play the character and figure it out through play, but I think your theory makes a ton of sense. It's cool how a randomly generated series of parameters can actually end up making sense [in a superhero setting 😅].

Another way to do random attributes would be to roll a number of d6s equal to the points you are going to spend, the number of 1's rolled is your Might, the number of 2's rolled is your Agility, etc.

Ooh, I like that! It doesn't allow for negatives, and it doesn't make 3s likely, but it certainly feels random! I guess you could also start at -3 in all stats and do 18 extra rolls!

The Kang expansion is said to have a Adventure for each rank 1 to 6 and not sure how many heroes are going to be for one rank i hope 8 to 10 .

😅 I love him in the Spider-Verse movies, but I guess I'd rather he at least had a different name. I'm not generally a fan of seeing tons of characters (clones, variants, etc.) with generally the same power set, but having the exact same name crosses the line.

I'm a bit rusty, but I'm pretty sure noncombat checks are the same. Just change which stat you add, based on the action.

I am curious why can't you choose multiple elemental attacks instead of just one?

Oh true! I guess I could have taken the same power multiple times with different elements. I don't remember any rules that explicitly allow or disallow that, but it seems like it should be possible.

It’s so strange how all content creators explain the game through the rank of fantasy role playing games and in general by that they mean D&D. How is that helpful at all?

That's a good point! D&D is extremely popular, and roleplaying for many people at this point is synonymous with D&D. That said, that's not useful to new roleplayers coming in through different games. Unfortunately, "D&D as the baseline" has been baked into my head since college, so it's hard to get away from.

@@runiverse2301 I would say it's even less helpful to people like us who played D&D, since it moves our thinking into a certain direction which holds us back from understanding and embracing a different world and rules system.

I tried to like this game. I played the beta version and hated it. The math was ridiculously bloated. After the final version of the game was published I picked up a copy and gave it a try. The devs had addressed some of the beta-testers’ complaints but not all of them. And the math is still WAY too bloated (even if not as bloated as during the beta). There are just too many other awesome sups games out there like M&M, Prowlers & Paragons, and the Cypher System (just to name a few) for this game to make any headway in its current form. The bloated math just drives me crazy.

I think the character creation looks quite good. I like how you can make a focussed character or a jack of all trades Its Marvel its like a cash cow. This doesnt seem that bad though...kind of interesting damage is part of the roll which determines the hit...i think thats quite good
