Marvel rivals is in closed alpha and I've been disrupting a lot of games with Hulk AKA Bruce Banner (tanky as heck) so let's take a look at his abilities, skills, passives, and a real matches with him.

I think a few changes would make Hulk more effective at his job. Of all characters in the game, I think Hulk needs the most attention. Outside of his ultimate, he has no way to harass more than a single target, which feels wrong. His goal should be to disrupt the enemy team and peel damage for his team. Here's my thoughts on what he needs: 1) Incredible Leap should release a damaging/knockback shockwave when he lands. This would create some initial pressure when he engages and possibly split up a team that is trying to all bunch together. 2) Indestructible Guard should grant him and nearby allies bonus health instead of creating a shield, or perhaps work like Loki's healing field, converting damage into a small amount of healing for a few seconds. This would fit better with his lore anyway, as "the angrier Hulk gets, the stronger he gets". 3) Radioactive Lockdown doesn't feel appropriate to his kit. It should be replaced with an ability where Hulk tears up a chunk of the ground at his feet and hurls it at the enemy, causing a little damage and, more importantly, some knockback and/or brief stun to anyone it connects with (maybe also in a small AoE, about the size of Iron Man's repulsor blasts). 4) Gamma Burst is "okay" but it feels like it should also do extra damage at point-blank range to anyone caught in the thunder clap.

Completely agree with everything here except 2) he shouldnt even have this ability. Should be something that deals damage to create temp health on him and allies.

This sounds great, and to add on to the rock throw, maybe give it a tick damage effect like radioactive poisoning for his monster form.

Hulk needs some abilities changed. I don’t know why they focused so much on him shooting gamma energy. His shield should be a self heal or temp hp that is increased based on the number of enemies close to him, so he can survive dives better. His yell should also change to a short range attack that damages everyone around him to again support a diving play style.

I wouldn't exactly blame your team here. Hulk is like a dive tank from overwatch. Without proper communication from the player everything falls apart

Really no idea why his right click is named "gamma burst", it should just be "thunder clap".

Not bad design, but he's a gamma tank with a survival ult, which is kinda...weird. It feels like the balance for Hulk is that he's a huge "win more" condition and that you're never going to kill him if the enemy team focuses the tiniest bit on his survival due to his ult being a full-heal / nigh-unkillable tank, BUT if the team doesn't support him on his own he's just awful since his sustain is nothing.

I think lockdown feels really weird on the hero, he needs more abilities for him to deal damage on the front line. Thunderclap also feels like it should pierce through enemies

Hulk is more of a flanking brawler type tank than a frontliner. Yes he should be in the fray with heals, but his job is to target those that his low damage can actually score kills on: The supports. Tanks are a waste of time and should be targets for your lockdown while you go after the puny god and his fellow healers.

I think the problem was you were diving in and getting kills but not diving out to get heals you need to run when you are low.

Agreed, didn't play the best. But if you play okay and have some good support you dominate. It was a good example what not to do in a lot of ways

I wouldn’t blame your team. There were so many times when you should have jumped out, but instead you just stayed in the midst of 4 enemies and let them melt your health bar.

He looks like he's gonna play most like wrecking ball. He's the most mobile tank by a landslide unless you count strange portal. He's got 3 main tools for actually helping his team. He's bubbles make him and his team immune to damage for a couple of hopefully important seconds. His stun can really effectively punish isolated enemies especially those trying to sneak a kill on your supports. And his strong mobility let's him constantly bounce between his backline and the front line. If hulk sees his teammate going in he can just jump at them, shield them and distract the enemies they were fighting. He's the only dive tank

wish he had a different kit that encouraged a more front line playstyle. Changing the gamma blast to just a thunderclap that does aoe damage and knockback would be cool

Hulk actually somewhat reminds me of Rein in Overwatch. Both need a ton of resources pumped into them to do work. If this game ever has a GOATS like meta, Hulk will be it's spearhead, like Rein was in Overwatch.

Kinda lame that his leap doesn't do any damage, or even a knockback. His whole kit just doesn't feel cohesive. He has a lot of slow, steady damage, which isn't how I imagine Hulk to be. He's not a defender, he's a wrecking ball. If they want his weakness to be getting focused down, then he needs to be more potent in his damage and disruption. Let him damage and knockback enemies with his leap, but add a cooldown if it does so. His fists and his thunder clap should do more damage. Instead of the bubble, I'd prefer if he could block damage for himself (like Ramattra's Block in Overwatch) or just have another damage ability. If Hulk gets on you and can hit his abilities, I think he should be able to basically one-shot you. Then he's vulnerable afterwards. At least, that's how I'd design him. As he is now, he doesn't provide enough value for how quickly you can get burst down.

He is one of the heroes, including namor, that I am not happy with design wise. Hulk needs to hit a lot harder like you say. To compensate he should build up damage as time goes on, but he is slow and easy to juke.

This Hulk gameplay is something else tbh. Why is Dan flaming his teammates when he went in alone twice and died not to mention that he wasted ult for no reason too? Bro does not know what regrouping means LMFAO. Why isn't Dan diving the supports on a dive tank doesn't make any sense. I can't wait to main Hulk since I will be in the backline killing the supports as a dive tank is supposed to do!

Personally after everything I've seen i think he needs a rework too! The other Tanks have a lot better utility and their ULTS are more impactful! I would ditch the Banner form and have his entire kit revolving around him getting into Monster Hulk faster.
