I loved Overwatch 1 from the bottom of my heart and would love the game to get back to the greatness from its peak - not in a sense to stop on content OW1 released of course, every game needs to change and grow so it would not die (the best example would be OW1 itself and its last 2 years when we got nothing new - how ironic xD) but I'm afraid that even aside of current problems with the game, the irreparable damage has been done already and anything devs will release will bear a stigma of cancelled PvE, Kaplans and old devs departure and shittiness of current Blizzard as a whole. So yeah, I hope Overwatch will save itself somehow, but it's gonna be a *very* tough road to walk

It's been a rough road for Overwatch over the past few years. While I'm sure there's still some fun to be had, broken promises and bad business decisions have really left a lot of players feeling betrayed. We don't yet know what the future holds for Marvel Rivals and if the developers can fully deliver on all that potential but what they've been showing us so far really gives a sense that they know what they're doing and how best to appease their target audience. I'm excited to get back into it and I hope that it does well. Competition is a good thing.

I personally am not looking for an overwatch killer. OW has its own uniqueness in the way it’s played and its characters are honestly really cool even though it’s easy to forget since I’ve been so frustrated with the game. There’s a certain feel to the interaction between players, the art style, etc. that I don’t think can be replicated. But OW has become stale and money hungry. The only content lately has been “look at this new skin and collab event!” The game itself hasn’t improved much and they seem to have gotten lazy. I will 100% be switching to rivals as it looks incredibly fun and the devs seem to genuinely care about player experience and they have been very active with the community to improve before launch. We will see over time if they keep that passion but my hope is that overwatch will rise to the challenge and get a taste of what competition looks like. We will see if they genuinely want to keep overwatch at the top or if they are just milking it for cash. I hope OW makes a comeback because it would be really cool to have two games in the genre that I enjoy playing and can alternate between when I get burnt out on one. I want both games to be great but honestly, I’m so pumped for rivals that even if OW cranked out insane content for months straight I’ll probably be too busy enjoying rivals to even want to check it out. But again, some day I hope it’s worth returning to when I just want to switch it up!

Rivals has one big problem, and I m pretty sure it will affect the player base pretty much. It's the characters. No one I know looked at the characters in this game and Thought "Omg he looks so sick I need to know how he plays or what he does" Rivals doesn't have this magic and will never have it. People will lose interest if there won't come figures/characters they don't know. This is one of the things why overwatch is so popular, the characters and their personalities/magic. You can see the same thing on games like Pokemon unite. The game had such a big hype and had so many players on the first weeks, but it fell off because there are no really "new" Pokemon to catch people. Every mon that gets announced is already known and people can already think about, which role and abilities they could have, or even personality Mark my words, this WILL be one of Rivals biggest challenges.

I can definitely see where you're coming from; for example, people already know the essential personality that Spider-Man has like being goofy and comedic. But Rivals are implementing popular, and unpopular characters like Squirrel Girl, Jeff the Land Shark, and Cloak‡ so players get best of both worlds and we can probably go as far as saying that even though we might know all the characters, Rivals might gather a portion of new players who haven't seen or heard some of the popular and unpopular characters, and maybe those new players kind of resonate with the characters' personalities/magic that you were mentioning. And for how the characters play, some of them do have kits where you can guess what it might be but there are some characters where the devs tweaked with and made them to something that would be hard to guess. Like giving Hawkeye a sword to knockback, deflect, and slice, of course; and an ultimate where he can shoot the after images of enemies to damage them. So I can agree to a certain extent.

Honestly it looks like a mobile game to me , only thing killing ow is itself . That said I will try the game out and see if I can have fun with it, but it doesn’t seem like the type game I’ll fall in love with , still think ow holds that niche I want , first person and third person perspective make diff too

I think Rivals is handling legacy heroes to the best of their ability I think the Hulk/Red Hulk or Venom/Carnage debate is silly for the most part - those were obviously always going to be skins considering the original heroes are in the launch roster of the game But my man Miles Morales cannot be a skin - I don't care if too many spider heroes would break the meta He is the one legacy character who needs to be separated! He was carrying the whole Ultimate Universe on his back and he has enough unique looks of his own that they CANNOT make him a spiderman skin

The "Morales is Morales" was hyped because across the spider verse toys with him were sold as Miles Morales. Peter B. Parker was sold as spider-man. And let's not pretend that pattern recognition is something wrong. If we take the og 6 Avengers from the movies, 5 of them (all but the female of the group) were replaced by woke. Hulk by an Asian Thor by a woman Cap by a black Iron Man by a black woman Clint by a woman And all of them were pushed as being better then originals.
