I feel like so many movies and comics forget that nowadays. Yeah, Spider-Man goes toe-to-toe with some crazy supervillains, but he’s also the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man who goes out of his way to listen to people’s stories, or help them out when they need it. That’s what being a hero is truly about, after all

I did it was Miles and I think it was the better option. I prefer Nadji's line delivery over Yuri's and considering I did this mission just after Peter got the black suit the naivety of not realising Howard was dying and the sheer joy of flying amongst the pigeons worked better for Miles.

I feel like this should've been a Peter only mandatory mission at the end of the game after the main story, like an epilogue, it fits perfectly with the theme of the game about characters being unable to handle their grief or their fear to die, with Howard being the opposite, willingly deciding to leave this earth, at peace with just the satisfaction of knowing that his family is safe and free and will reunite with his wife soon

This entire game was perfect, and made me cry multiple time throughout. But this mission was special. No super villains, no devils breath, no big dramatic final moments. Just a man doing a final act of kindness for his friend. Hearing Seabird play while gliding through the city and over the river was one of the most peaceful moments I’ve ever experienced in a game, even though I was expecting what was coming. And then when it ended it still got me. Whether you played this mission as Miles or Peter, this is what makes Spider-Man Spider-Man. Going above and beyond for the people of his city just because they asked for help. I’m going to miss you Howard.

My neighbor recently died, she was an old lady who came here from Germany back in 1946. I'd walk her dog for her, have tea, and just be friends with her. Some of the local kids who come by every Thanksgiving and give her food. Every Christmas, I'd give her some home made socks and gloves. One day last year, she died in her home, and it still hurts as our last conversation ended with her being excited for tea that Wednesday. She was a wonderful person to be around and I hope that she's doing good wherever she ended up.

So true! I lost my dog almost around a year ago, who has meant so much to me in my life. Playing this mission by freeing the pigeons and seeing Howard die at the end reminded me about my loss and also made me feel sad about Marvel killing off Howard at the same time. It’s all hitting harder for me as I type this, so I’m going to lay down and cry for a few minutes… 😢

A friend of mine recently went away, I'd never met her irl but we were thick as thieves. She loved Spiderman and a whole lot of nerdy stuff but one day she vanished, she lived in a place that wasn't the safest to live, especially for someone like her, the last message she ever sent was telling me not to look for her or mourn her but every now and then I remember how we'd chat way into the night and just hang out being ourselves and I just miss her. I don't know where she is or if she's even still alive but wherever she is I hope she's at peace. My only regret with our friendship is that I never got to meet her in person.

Even when he helps people and does his best to make everything right, there are some things Spider-Man can't stop no matter how hard he tries. But he keeps trying anyway because that's what a hero does. Sometimes, the most heroic thing we can do is sit with someone and listen to them tell their story - to sympathize and empathize, to be human and show humanity in return. The greatest superpower is not super strength or super speed, but our capacity to love, even when it hurts to love. ("What is grief, if not love persevering?") Spider-Man's capacity for love is so great that he willingly sacrifices himself - his time, his health, his relationships - to help those in need and protect that which he loves. With great power comes great responsibility; with great love comes great sacrifice. No other superhero knows this better than Spider-Man. That is what makes him the most relatable superhero. That is the essence of Spider-Man. And that one side quest epitomizes Spider-Man more than a million fights with Venom ever could.

Simple but impactful stories like this make you realize what it means to be a "Neighborhood Spiderman" and be close to people. The moment you donr out yourself on a pedestal and interact with all kinds of people you are gonna have to carry the weight of their stories and their existence, even if yiure the only one, even if you dont like that, just like nurses, suicide hotline operators, volunteers at shelters etc... when you meet a lot of people up close and talk to them, you see and hear all kinds of things and you carry them with you, and if youre lucky like spiderman, instead of just carrying some more burden you just take some away from then and make someone's day or even life lighter, even if just a little.

This is my favorite mission in the game, hell, in the franchise. Never have I ever played through a segment in a game where I'm just left smiling at the utter beauty I'm experiencing. I just remember being so in love with this scene when I first played it, it made me think of the simple pleasures in life and how precious those little moments with loved ones are. With you swinging across the water, the sunset glaring into the camera, the birds flying around you, the gorgeous song playing, everything just makes sense and feels so good. If you didn't like that mission, that's okay, but I think that just shows that you play games to have fun, not to appreciate how beautiful a work of art can be. Games are a work of art, and this mission proves it. It's fine if you didn't like it, you likely just prefer an action film to an art house drama. But even within the confines of the game, this is still the best Spider Man side mission I've ever seen. It shows who Spiderman is. He's not a hero who only shows up to save the world and save lives, he helps their lives too. Miles especially is just a friendly neighborhood Spiderman. Yes he fights crimes and saves lives, but being a friendly neighbor also means helping someone take out the trash, find their missing cat, or in this case, find a new home for the ones you love before you pass. I love this mission, and I genuinely think it's the best single mission not just in this game, but one of the best single missions of the year in any game.

Maybe it’s corny but these kind of missions prove what really makes a hero. It’s not someone who just beats up bad guys; it’s someone who truly helps people on a spiritual level. It’s about being kind, lifting people up, or simply giving them a moment of your time to listen and hear them out. Not everyone can beat up criminals, but we can all do a little bit more to be a bit kinder to each other and be heroes in our own way.
