I'm glad to hear when someone else, someone who is clearly a well-versed comic book fan and seems pretty intelligent, liked the novelty of 'Superior Spider-Man' and thought it was a good story. I personally really enjoyed SpOck and his time as Peter Parker, and wished it would have lasted longer. I enjoyed parts when the real Peter returned in the story, but I don't think it really went with the "with great power comes great responsibility" theme in the end.

I wont lie....I HATED HATED HATED HATED Superior just by the idea that Peter was gone. Didnt even reead it yet. My good friend gave me Spidey comics and said " Bro.....just try it" I tried it, and it was really good. It was still annoying seeing Ock do things in Peters body and I caught myself thinking when is Peter coming back, then there was the heart warming return and Ocks death (again) and I was very pleased by the end of this story.

Superior Spiderman was meant to shake things up for a bit with interesting stories and fun times then return back to familiarity. Peter can't die. He's a main-stay. The story was always set up so Peter would return to his body, people are just quick to judge. You could tell it was gonna be a good story from day 1.

Superior Spider-Man motto: "Getting shit done". I really liked Superior Spider-Man, not for Otto, but because this allowed the writers to show us what Spider-Man and Peter Parker would be like if Peter used his potential to the fullest! I really enjoyed seeing that and reading this story, and even if it has to go down hill at the end (of course it would, since they need to justify peter back in control), it's still one of my favorite versions of Spidey, the art was also fantastic overall. More recently, I also enjoyed reading "Renow your vows" and finally seeing Peter and MJ really together, partners in both Peter's lifes and having a family of their own, the volume 2 is not that great story-wise, but I still enjoy seeing the family dynamic.

honestly it wasn't that he died was the problem it was that none of his friends and family members could see the difference. the way the avengers and everyone of his side characters were treated like jokes. i couldn't agree with how slott did this. his greatest villains were the ones who knew a now turned evil cyclops could tell he wasn't peter all of the people who weren't his friends or family could tell. and then he kills a guy and not only does he have people vouch for him the rest of the superhero community just waived it off. i liked superior spider-man but i couldn't stand slott trolling me for that whole year and feel good about his story. i felt that he should done a few things differently like that time he took the kingpin down. why did that only last 2 to 3 issues. there was no reason that should have been that small. they should have turned that into a street level crossover with brains and coniving this would have ended the spider hate. hell they even brought alchemax in i saw it from a mile away but it was still a gutsy move. he didn't treat these stories with much respect in my opinion. like the time he called child services on luke cage. luke cage a hero he could have gotten the respect of during a cross over event with all the street level heroes. i was at a loss for words. he had to much invincibility and too little trouble being peter parker which always through the troupe in my face that everyone is a better peter parker which is a terrible troupe. i wouldn't have stopped otto from taking over peters body and honestly peter can die anyway they want him to die but i will not forgive when you fuck over the side characters. the important characters that reflect peters life onto himself. they have to be done right. so the first people who should have known were Mary Jane and Aunt May. then the rest of the cast. but alas this didn't happen. instead peter died for a year and no one was the wiser for a good minute. i understand that people liked him better this way but really i never understood why peter couldn't do that stuff himself and now that he is he gets a lot of grief.

I always hated Doc Ock being in Peter's body, but still thought superior spider man was very good. I don't understand why these two things have to be mutually exclusive. Also, i never thought for a second why anyone thought this would be a good idea to make this a permanent change. While Otto was certainly efficient, i've never really got that feeling from him that he would ultimately be successful. Also, it would have been kind of creepy in the long run considering Peter's loved ones would be interacting intimately with someone inhabiting his body and not the person they thought he was. I don't really like the way people are using the fact that this story was better than what came after to make the argument that things should have stayed this way. No matter what, it would have had to come to an end at some time. The best path would have been to make sure that what came next lived up to the precedent set by superior spider man.

I'm late, I just saw your explanation and cover of Kingdom Come of DC and I have to admit that video was absolutely magnificent from the pretty mellow music choice and your own viewpoint on the philosophies presented in the comic. It would be interesting actually to see you team up with actual authors and create a storyline.. maybe you can argue the abstract understanding that humans have toward life versus the ultimate existence outside of our philosophy of life as presented by the existence of Dr. Manhattan, immortal beings, etc..

Superior Spider-man was an oxymoron. Doc Oct as Spider-man wasn't even effective and made no long lasting impact outside of alienating Peter from a bunch of people, getting Peter's PHD, and starting another a company. He beat up villains a tad more brutally and kept crime down for a short while. As the "edgier" and darker Spider-man who was "smarter", he could have at least went around murdering all of Spider-man's enemies because they have this weird thing for where they just keep coming back and ruining his life for the last 60 years publication. The "genius" did not consider that. And it wasn't because he was against taking lives because he did that. This series was solely for Dan Slott to put on a Doc Oct costume at night and masturbate onto the pages of individual trades of Spider-man with his name on it.
