A couple weeks after purchasing and this guy looming over some of the villains on my Marvel Legends shelf still catches my eye every time. 100% agree that he could maybe use a bit more range of movement and some panel lining could've helped too, but even without that he's got such a great presence on the shelf, and at least for me he's able to do what I need him to. I think the best part which to me is pretty undeniable is you get a real sense of effort and passion with this release, along with most Marvel Select releases these days.

Their promotional pictures are all over the place. They do the weirdest shit with them. They show unfinished prototypes with accessories, sculpts and articulation that don't match the final product. They have product shots where they just photoshopped alternate heads on to images that are already in the product listings unaltered. They'll put up product listings with one picture that doesn't show any of the accessories they come with. It comes off like the person managing this stuff is doing it with a gun to their head.

Diamond select has been killing it. They usually kill it with their big figs but lately even the human like characters have been good. Plus I love the paint and finish on their figs, whereas nowadays we get mostly moulded plastic. And good number of accessories for the price

That metallic red on Crimson Dynamo is chef’s kiss perfect. It’s such a beautiful paint job and no swirling plastic. Diamond won me over with their recent Fantastic Four line, their Sue Storm was extremely pretty and had some of the best transparent effect parts and Mr. Fantastic was loaded to the gills with accessories.

Q of the Day: Yes, Diamond/Marvel Select has won me over to the point where all characters are on the table, not just the oversized characters that can augment my Marvel Legends collection. Like most other lines, it’s still on a figure by figure basis though. If that means I have 3/4 of the Fantastic Four until they release a Thing figure that I like or I’m missing half the Avengers, so be it. One line where I make character driven (as opposed to figure driven) purchases is enough. Cough*MarvelLegends*cough. 😂

I'm too stuck in trying to have everything scale well and I'm entrenched with 6 inch scale stuff. That being said, I think he's close enough to fudge for me. I use to be a lot more ubiquitous but that's the rule now to just avoid snap buying everything. A good figure is a good figure. Every other company continues to dunk on Hasbro with either quality, execution, or price point

Thanks for your efforts on this product Anthony. Q of the day: I'm converted. I collect Marvel comic book characters, so Marvel Select has provided some excellent products recently that have complimented my Marvel Legends, Revoltechs, and Mafex's. Furthermore, I prefer other companies like Marvel Select to make products (such as this one) rather than ML. The quality that goes into this design, attention to power set accessories, and scaling that works with others makes MS's products a worthy alternative. Would a ribbon-cutting ceremony for your basement be available on YT?

Yes i like marvel select more than legends and have always collected the larger characters as many people do . The quality has greatly improved and the accessories they provide now are on par with many third party companies for a better price . My only gripe would be i want more figures quicker ,which i suppose is not really a bad thing at all at least for them .

That's the look I like for Cromson Dynamo. A nice spread of accessories and the paint finish looks good too. The scale is too big for me. I prefer 6", and the hindered knee and elbow bend is poor. Still he looks impressive.

Q of the day: I like to pose and play with figures from different toy lines/IPs. As such, I almost never figures that can't even be fudged into the same (i.e. 6-6.5 inch) scale. On the other hand, I've also almost completely stopped buying marvel legends (Power Princess being the only one I've purchased all year). Another reason I don't typically buy Marvel Select (Hulk and Juggernaut being the only ones I own) is that aesthetics are a distant second priority for me, after articulation. Just a matter of personal preference.

You know I might actually want to buy a couple of these figures, particularly the Iron Man ones when they get to him, from what I see from some older figures they do the sculpt and paint work justice, but the articulation was lacking, so again I'm digging what Marvel Select has done so far from what I see. P.S I just noticed now, that you are definitely the Louis Rossmann of action figure reviewers, being upfront about your opinions on the things you're passionate about, going through excruciating detail on the things you like or don't like on those certain things, and also occasionally making valid jokes about a billion dollar company for screwing up simple things that could've easily been solved had it not been for the higher-ups rushing their engineers, ala Apple or Hasbro respectively.

Question of the Day: I favor the Marvel Select Line over Marvel Legends just because of the quality. Sure, the character selection isn't as vast as the Marvel Legends line. Yet, I still like Marvel Select. I got the Marvel Select Captain America. The first and most likely last Captain America figure I ever purchased. I wanted to build my own version of the classic/new Avengers squad, so Cap was an essential piece. I would like to Marvel Select tackle some older figures they released, but with updated articulation that they use now. For example, a Wolverine or a Thing figure.

I don't even collect this line but I'm all for more of these Select reviews. Watched the whole video just now. It's interesting to see how the line compares to their quality in the aughts, and frankly I'd rather see attention be brought to these than Legends and its seemingly idiotic fanbase (well, at least the vocal sheep at r/marvellegends anyways). Also yeah, those promo pics really do seem to suck all around. Ironically, even Hasbro's been getting better in that regard ever since they hired shootingthegalaxy to do the promo pics a while back (which are then unused or dragged down in the final packaging's layout but oh well). Seems Select could use a shake-up too.
@PowerChordEPS9 ай бұрын
I have a theory about DST and their quality vs. Hasbro: Quality over quantity. Look at how few figures DST are making compared to Hasbro, not just on the Marvel side but across all their licenses. Sure DST has a couple of duds (Their Darkwing/Negaduck two pack is pretty lame) but Hasbro does maybe a handful of instant classic figs amidst a sea of mediocrity. Most DST Marvel figs, even though I only have one-two to my name, I say let 'em cook, that Cap is perfection.
