This game is how I learned who Thanos was. I didn't read the Infinity Saga, so I didn't know who Thanos was, nor did I know what an "Infinity Gem" was. Kind of funny to think today that back then I questioned why Dr. Doom wasn't the final boss. I was like EVERYONE knows who Dr. Doom is. Thanos is a nobody!

Someone I use to be friends with told me to play this game and honestly, I'm glad I listened to him. This game was so much better than I thought it was. I love the infinity gem mechanic in this game (Which is weird because I don't think i would like it in Marvel VS Capcom Infinite). It did have a good choice of fighters, good stage backgrounds, great visuals, and of course the great and nostalgic CPS2 Marvel music. Really appreciate this title along with X-Men: Children of the Atom for eventually spawning the VS Series.

As iconic as the Marvel vs Capcom series is, I feel like Children of the Atom and Marvel Super Heroes had their own identity before the tag team mechanics and would be worth continuing as a series. Instead of everything else being so focused on the movies, imagine a game that focuses on the aesthetic of the COMICS. You could have hand drawn animation in the style of the comic books... it would be glorious. I mean, even these old sprites are still charming to this day.

All of these retrospectives make me see an opportunity for Disney and Capcom, one already done for the Street Fighter franchise. Marvel vs. Capcom: The Ultimate HD Collection Games included... X-Men: Children of the Atom Marvel Super Heroes (1995) X-Men vs. Street Fighter Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter Marvel vs. Capcom Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite A compilation of every Marvel fighting game developed by Capcom, the 1994-2000 games would also all HD remakes, and the 2010s games would see unlockable characters become available through non-financial means. I'd also suggest that maybe there would be a small handful of additional characters in each game that were popular at the time of original release. (For example: I've always been puzzled that Sagat wasn't in XM vs. SF to be Sabretooth's natural tag partner, and that neither games under the X-Men brand name had Beast, Jean Grey, or Jubilee at a time when the animated series was airing.)
