Great voice actors, many coming out of Canada's legendary CBC radio/TV unit. John Vernon, later famous as Dean Wormer, was the first Iron Man.

They were trying to cash in on the Batman craze. The theme songs were short but catchy. When they originally aired on Channel 9 in NYC, they had a live host, a guy in a generic superhero costume on a really cheap set. Great fun!

Interesting, I didn't know that. Is there any footage anywhere online??

Unfortunately, very little footage from that era exists from local channels. Video tape was very expensive and they just taped over kids shows, horror hosts, local sports, etc. A whole era of local TV programming is basically gone into the ether.

***** Fascinating. What a shame too, that would have been the cherry on the cake to see! Thanks for the info by the way, it's nice to see people leaving decent comments on youtube for a change lol.

60s, 80s and 90s Hulk for $10? Nice. One of my earliest memories is sitting down to watch the regularly scheduled reruns of the 60s Spider-Man cartoon, being crushed when it didn't come on (programming change), then being soothed by the fact that this show I'd never seen was the replacement. I remember running out to tell my mom on the first commercial break while she was hanging laundry ("It has Hulk and Captain America and Thor and Iron Man and Namor and the rest of the Avengers and Rick and Bucky and SHIELD!" "That's nice dear."). Too bad there was no Spidey, but the music was great, and it was pretty much the Marvel SuperFriends (a current show at that time).

I haven’t been a fan of superhero comics since the early 70s when I enjoyed both Marvel & DC. That said, my favorite show after school was the Marvel Superheroes cartoons. I loved them and still remember the songs to this day… Of course, I also loved Gigantor and Tobar the Eighth Man, but thanks for this review. Very cool.

the incredible hulk 1982 series I have on DVD was released by Liberation entertainment and I think they went out of business and then clearvision took over the rights to release the marvel animated shows

I'm trying to find either online or on DVD clear versions of the Marvel Superheroes opening song and animation, as well as the mini-vignettes they had for each of the 5 characters (basically brief histories) are those available anywhere?

I'm 61. I was 7 in 1966, loved these cartoons. They started me as a lifelong fan of Marvel, Jack Kirby's work both at Marvel and DC in the early 70s... I had forgotten much of these...thank you for the blast from the past. Do you know, is there a complete DVD or bluray set of the entire series that will play in American region 1 players? I'd like to have it for my kids...thanks again.

By mid 1968, the then still powerful PTA made such a stink over the superhero cartoons, that they drove most of them off Saturday morning tv. It took marvel another ten years to get a show back on Saturday mornings.

+Andrew Beet I have been tempted with the Incredible Hulk cartoon from 1980 to myself. By the way sorry for the lack of new videos. I got a new computer and haven't had chance to install or even buy any new editing software. Also had a few issues in my life with the usual stuff (women!) These past few months, but I will bounce back soon I promise lol. Let me know what you think of the Hulk DVD if you get it

If this came just a year before the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man cartoons, then why is the animation terrible?
@marioozzie

Lack of budget, probably also lack of qualified staff who could animate more human-looking characters (same problem happened a couple of years later over at Hanna-Barbera: for Jonny Quest most of the staff could barely draw anything other than Fred Flintstone-type characters.

I remember watching these in Australia during the late 60s, early 70s as a young kid. But I have a memory of a closing credit showing a live parade with actors portraying the heroes on a float traveling down a packed street, waving to the crowd. Does anybody remember this, and if they do, has anybody seen it since?. Cheers

Yes that’s true. Two live actors heralded the show’s premiere and I remember expecting live action. Based on the Merry Marvel Marching Society (thus the parade) which Stan had created as a fan club, the two hosts were never seen again once the show commenced. Never seen them since and can’t recall their names beyond (I think) something dynamite ( the female). Got to love the toons once I realized they were lifted from the actual comics.
The Captain America cartoon Marvel wants you to forget
