Marvel United: Multiverse - The New Solo Mode Gameplay

Very first turn: when you use an effect to “discard” thugs (or civilians), they don’t go on the mission card. Only using attack actions/tokens (or heroic actions/tokens), or wilds, or that use the word “defeat” (or “rescue”) are used to complete those missions “defeat thugs” and “rescue civilians”. At least, that’s how it worked with Hulk.

The card actually says defeat, he miss spoke. I said the same thing till I looked at the actual card and it does say defeat all.

Yep! The card "Defeats" not Discards. Sometimes the language is used interchangably, but we know they're VERY different effects. He played it correctly, but narrated it incorrectly haha.

You could use dice which count down with damage, instead of the health markers . That way, observers can see the health meter on each of the henchmen, and the Main bad as well.

At 22:00, you couldn't damage Starfox, since he becomes invulnerable if he hits a hero.

Great choice for a video to promote this game. I tried this solo mode "Commander" with X-men United and it made the game 1000% better. Thanks Alex! I was going to pass on Multiverse... that all changed and I just backed it.

@@commandershepard9920 I do, being able to focus on one character lets me 'play' that character. Feels more immersive and engaging. I imagining that there are 4 other characters doing their own thing, engaged in other aspects of the fight, and when they can, providing support. To me it feels thematic and less fiddly allowing me to focus on fun. It's not any kind of extreme challenge... that's for other games... this just allows me to play a ton of characters, see tons of powers, and in a short playtime.

I have too many united games, I might just get the base set (since idk most multiverse characters) and those plastic tokens look really good. I always thought the cardboard tokens were high quality but seeing these, they really pop out.

Alex, You didn't do the BAM effect of the henchmen during the turn at 27:10. I can't read the cards but Captain Marvel and/or Silver Surfer may have done damage to you.

After reviewing earlier turns, it looks like Captain Marvel only damages *adjacent* to her and since you were on her location I guess you didn't take any damage. Silver surfer moves to the next empty location with a hero (I believe), so I guess he didn't move either. So I guess no harm / no foul.

Tried Commander solo with Marvel United and Marvel United: X-Men. In my first game, I took down Mystique somewhat easily. In Game 2, facing Taskmaster with Spider-Man, I needed Heroics to rescue civilians so that I could remove the crisis tokens and defeat the villain, but all that came out in my hand and my support was Attacks. Since I don't have Multiverse, I played with no Battle Plans and no Equipment, so I guess going 1-1 in this new mode minus the "bells and whistles" isn't too bad.

Looking at the WIP rules on the Kickstarter, the Battle plan budget can be 0-2 not 0-3, you could not have used both of those cards

@@BoardGameCo may have been different at the time of your play, latest WIP says [P.14] "The maximum possible is 2, but you can play with 1 or even 0 for a bigger challenge." I've backed it, but have chased down 10 of the 12 Battle Plan cards so i can play this early

He uses his cards twice a few times, you don't use the negative ability on the bottom left card, he didn't activate everyone's bams on one turn. He won but he didn't cause I wasn't played right, but then again every video I have seen has mistakes in it. Still great game and shows off a lot
