Zero is the type of character that doesn’t let his past define him, and he does everything he can to protect those he believes in without a doubt in his mind. Shadow on the other hand, let the past rule his actions and eventually led to him seeking that past out in later games. Shadow’s character is very inconsistent with shifts happening in seemingly every new era of Sonic. Zero’s personality remains rather consistent throughout the X AND Zero games. Remind me again how they’re similar?

He is mostly level-headed, but I've found that Zero has his cocky moments; the best example that comes to mind is in Megaman Zero 1 when he first defeats Copy X; the most level-headed cocky quote he made was this: "Too weak. Was the Original X this weak? My mind may have forgotten, but my body seems to remember, that the Original X was mightier than you!" So I think JYB did quite well for his voice.

Most people prefer to use the original Japanese voices; but I usually keep it English simply because it's a little more difficult to understand their sentence patterns, and I can't exactly keep track of their verbal motor skills, in a sense. That's what Johnny Bosch probably does for Zero the best, and the voice fits him well due to that.
