I don't want to "that guy", but does anybody else feel that there's a lack of hype when it comes to the characters? Don't get me wrong, the game looks alright, but it seems like nobody was trying for this one. Even Johnny Yong Bosch seems to be phoning it in. Not only that, these supers seem way less impressive than the ones from MvC 3. Ex: Ghost Rider's level three in this game is just an HD Gif of him staring at the screen with fire behind him. Compare that to 3, where you actually have the visual of being pulled into his eyes and the opponent's soul being burned. Again, I'm not trying to be all "urgggh this game sucks cause it doesn't give people seizures worst game ever!1!1", it just seems that Capcom's doing less than they should for this game, instead of making someting awesome with what they have.

There is nothing to it. The way many feel towards this game is founded upon reason. 1.- Capcom does not care about what fans want anymore. They are currently focused - almost exclusively - on normalizing their "games as a service" model especially among the younger and uneducated; not to mention, hell-bent on milking everyone who buys into their games-turned-into-scams with little regard to quality or brand reputation in the middle term (I am not going to rationalize it, I just don't care). Many have woken up to this fact already but Capcom is - yet - so shameless they will now rub MvCI's DLC content in your face (the fact other horrible companies are doing it too is no excuse provided you behave as a principled consumer). Unfortunately, I am in no position to talk about Monster Hunter or Resident Evil 7 since I have no interest/experience in the former and no way to play the latter (RE7 is, however, already a cause for division among the fanbase which just saddens me). 2.- Several members of the FGC act as a PR platform for Capcom and hog the spotlight for their less-than-ready-for-showing products. SFV appears to be more of a 'game' geared towards televised junk and celebrity-wannabe stunts. It may get views but a huge number of fighting game fans - the ones that just wanted to see a good complete product regardless of how hardcore or casual they feel about competitive play - have just quietly walked away, they won't get close to this pile of s**t because of the aforementioned and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Esports has corrupted this image of the common fan and these manipulative PR machines have no qualms about depicting anyone who has no interest in online as a "scrub" that should have no say or vote (because they cannot see past their exclusive, money-inflated club). 3.- Super Street Fighter V could change this? It's currently up in the air (Capcom can tease all they want but, how about some transparency for once?) and, provided it's a physical version, folks will, no doubt, have to datamine it just to double-check whether everything is in the clear. Those who fell victim to the infamous launch day blu-ray deserve to have this downloadable update for free. Capcom simply owes this to them. But, here's the crux of the matter. Can anyone say with 100% certainty Capcom will be humble, honest and willing enough to do so (offer the SSFV update to these people for free) when they have the nerve to charge for nostalgia costumes (because, apparently, you don't deserve to have Akuma look the way he is supposed to without paying up)? As for the fight money system, it is a really poor implementation that ultimately goes against replay value. Grinding shouldn't be part of a fighting game because it's tiring and plain nonsensical. That said, the removal of arcade mode (the most fun and straightforward way to unlock stuff that I know of, so far) would constitute the perfect cover-up for this design decision, I guess. 4.- What happens with the Capcom "fanboys" is analogous to the frustrations others have with Nintendo. Everything their idolized companies do is a godsend and any opinion that questions these practices is 'hate'. These cattle couldn't begin to fathom what proper scrutiny is, which in theory shouldn't be difficult given Capcom's less than stellar record of hidden on-disc DLC, online-only DRM and rootkits, just to name a few. When it comes to fighters, they are currently in a downward spiral while all competitors are showing signs of catering to fans (not that a blind follower will see how things are outside their comfort zone, sadly). Naturally, I am also done with feeling for Capcom. I strongly believe they must take a seat and reflect on their state and their future. If they persist with these god-awful anti-consumer practices, they can take a hike and join the ranks of Konami. Unless, of course, Monster Hunter World becomes a happy turnaround for them.

Yea, Glad you noticed the difference with Ghost Riders voice and the detail with his LVL 3 Super. I don't understand Capcom or Marvel's logic in this situation. Yea, No X-Men sucks and they aren't just "functions" lol. However, I get Capcom/ComboFiend playing "nice" with Marvel because would ruin their business relationship. However the way its set up Capcom is going to suffer making the game due to Marvel excluding classics. (What people want.) All because of what? It's not like they don't own XMen or Deadpool or Fantastic 4 either. It's because Fox owns the movie rights. So if you ask me Marvel is the greedy ones here, Capcom is going to suffer for it. ...I don't understand who asked for Chris Redfield again or for half of this roster, actually. It's obvious Capcom chose as many characters from MVC3 and UMVC3 as they could and kept most of the movesets as similar as possible, but it's as if their intent was to disappoint everyone. Getting rid of the X-Men was big enough of a blow, but something they could've made up for by including fan favorites from older games (Captain Commando just can't catch a break) or God forbid, Leon fucking Kennedy or Tessa from Red Earth. Anyone by Chris... To comment on the visuals, the art direction is uninspired and everything looks so... stiff and not nearly as "Hyper" as MVC3. If they were aiming for more realistic graphics, then ditch hyper combos altogether because the whole appeal of them are how cartoonish and over-the-top they are. Or... you know, just don't fix what isn't broken.

I don't expect the game to be awful, but similar to SFV, it's just going to be severely underwhelming when you compare it to the highs of MVC2. MVC3 has fantastic visuals and a well-balanced roster to make up for its flaws, this one has neither of those things.

Only thing that could save this game and make it a definite buy for me now is if it has a real story line not no street fighter 5 bullshit but a REAL story line and arcade mode I was already mad that wolverine is not in this one when he has been in every other versus game but if there is no story mode and arcade mode im done.

The game mechanics looks solid, but the game needs some polishing, especially with it's lackluster base roster. The flashiness of the lv3s are pretty meh, especially since we know Capcom can go above and beyond with the graphic style they chose for the game. I heard there was going to be a day 1 patch that might fix some of the issues in the game, but as it looks the only reason for me to get this game would be for Nova.
