I hope Fant4stic bombs like the Amazing Spider-Man. It's so bad that the studio is forced to give it back to Marvel. I hate the idea of making the Fantastic Four into teenagers, because I feel it limits the story potential. The FF are space explorers, how can they be exploring the cosmos if they're worried about next week's chemistry final? Also, The Thing should NOT be CGI. If there's one thing the previous movies did right, it was portraying him with practical effects. And don't even get me started with the crapfest that looks to be their Dr. Doom. Dr. Doom is supposed to be one of Marvel's greatest villains, not some angry blogger. The old expression is "Lex Luthor tries and fails to take over the world, while Dr. Doom does it every other Monday and lets go of it on Wednesday because he gets bored of it."

Thanks for including me in the video! But I don't know how I'd feel about a Tyler Perry super hero/villain... I'm a bit hopeful about the new Fantastic Four. Hate me for saying so, but I really enjoyed the last two, and this reboot is one of the closest things to a "new" franchise we're getting. So I'm looking forward to it. Hesitantly. As for what will ruin it all? X-Men. I think the over saturation of X-Men-like movies in 2016 or 2017 (Deadpool, Gambit, Apocalypse) will really cripple that franchise.

You ever going to do a rant about how DC puts out 2 or 3 animated movies every year that are better than their live-action films? Because the fact that Under the Red Hood and Superman Vs. The Elite didn't get a theatrical release is just criminal, especially in the face of Man of Steel and Green Lantern (the latter of which I liked, but will freely admit that it could've been improved somewhat by a creature suit or two).

Guardians of the Galaxy was great while I was watching it, but afterwards I realized it had little plot, like, 'now we're in jail' 'now we're on a spaceship' 'now we're on another spaceship' 'now we're in a space battle with people saying spacey things'. Not to say it was a bad movie. But it has little rewatchability.

Okay, I have 2 major opinions to say: 1 - The ONE DC movie that I would die from if it bombed would be the Sandman. Even if the movie was just the first volume, I CANNOT see how they could screw something so incredible up. THEY BETTER HAVE GAIMAN AS A CONSULTANT!! 2nd - I don't think that it's going to be a movie per se that ends the Comic Book(Marvel) Movie Era. The Nostalgia Critic two weeks back posted a video about how this era will no doubt lose its traction/popularity, and be replaced by something else, and I'm inclined to agree with him. But the question that comes to mind after THAT is, what's the next era? Movie Adaptions of videogames, like Japan is doing with Persona 3? I just hope that one day, technology will be so advanced, that it will be the ER OF THE FANBOY, where we can create our OWN movies.....every fanboy's dream come true...

I think "Doctor Strange" will be a problem for the MCU because they haven't really done anything with magic. The magic in the Thor movies was written off as being advance technology remember. But regardless, I don't think it will bomb or be a bad film.

My guess is a spidey movie. Sony has been fucking up A LOT lately and I don't have much hope for the next Spiderman movie anything with or without Marvel Studios help. The current Web Warriors cartoon has been fun from what few episodes I've seen/are out, the mobile game with virtually the same plot as the cartoon is just as addicting and good as Robot Unicorn Attack 2, and Spidey is one of my favorite heroes of all time but Sony isn't doing too hot right now and they're very obviously willing to pull some crazy shit to stay on top of anything at this point.

I have a sick feeling in my gut that Batman V Superman is going to suck. Not Batman and Robin levels of bad, but still pretty bad. There's no prior buildup with the characters like with Iron Man and Captain America for Civil War, we haven't even met the new Batman yet and we only got one movie to get to know Superman. I feel like it's trying to do too much and be too big too soon.

I think Batman v. Superman is a risky one. I still think it will do pretty well in theaters, just not as well as Warner Bros. hopes it too, as they haven't built up their movie verse like Marvel has. I will also admit that I'm skeptical about Fantastic Four as well, honestly I'm more excited for Ant-Man, then the reboot. Over all I like where superhero movies are going, but there will always be something to be skeptical about, whether it be the company, director or actors.

Cody Williamson They spend so much making and marketing these superhero movies that they HAVE to be massive blockbusters. I mean, Amazing Spider-Man 2 made over $700 million worldwide, but was still considered such a disappointment that they essentially walked away from the franchise and the many spinoffs they had lined up. If just a couple of these movies underperform, what does that do to the glorious five-year plan of releases?

As one of the apparent few that actually enjoyed Man of Steel (for different reasons), I'm still cautiously curious about where Warner Bros. is going with this. Bring that with the fact that I still haven't found the time to read a DC comic (I think the only one I've read being Detective Comics 27 from the '30s funny as that sounds), I don't know where any of this will go. I think since Nolan's Batman, things have picked up for them, though (Oh, wait, Green Lantern came out between those movies, right? Well....)

Chris AngryNerd Baker Yeah, honestly the premise of Batman v Superman and the casting on Suicide Squad are about the only things I have to go on at this point. Another thing I just thought about: when Iron Man came out, NO ONE knew that anything like this could come about, and that was a damn good movie and well received. With Man of Steel, it was not only received with mixed reviews, it was a bit controversial... and in the height of Marvel's Cinematic MegaEmpire, DC decides to slap Man of Steel as the staple of it's own franchise. I have more faith that Iron Man was planned as a start to the MCU from the beginning, but somehow, I think that the DCU was either already planned BECAUSE of the success of Marvel or an afterthough to Man of Steel's release. If they can pull it off, good for them, I just hope it's not just a cashgrab from Warner Bros.

I think most movies so far have a pretty solid hype as well as a balanced expectation of the movies being at least an, "Okay" experience. But one comic book movie at this point that has everyone wondering and most uncertain of the outcome would be the up coming Dead-Pool Movie. It is too much of a wild card for anyone to put their finger on. Sure we do not have that much information but going off the story alone and the rage of some fans at a PG-13 Rating does not make it any better. "I have no prob with a PG-13 Dead-Pool as long as they capture his awesome slapstick/tongue and cheek/smart ass humor. But the 4th wall factor that can easily break the wild card movie.

Chris AngryNerd Baker Sure, not careing for coherence is easier, but since it is comic books the supension of disbelief is an integral part anyway. It is not like there is only ONE story per hero anyways.. I don't think it is that hard to coordinate some TV shows and a couple of movies on a very basic level. I personally wouldn't care if some stroylines did not fit together if just the heart of the character stays intact. But obviously the oldschool fans are in a neglectable minority. I cant even bear all this re-booting (new52...)...Why change something good into teen-compatible "stuff" why not just create something entirely new?.... oh man now you got me angry nerding... ;)

So... With Star Wars Rebels out, I have to ask... What do you think? I honestly enjoy the show. The first season entertained me for various reasons. It's silly, and it makes me laugh on some occasions. There are moments when the show gets VERY dark. I'm talking learning-that-Darth-Vader-shopped-his-sons'-hand-off-dark. The characters have a lot of heart and feeling put into them. When the characters feel something, I feel it too. The one I have to say DOESN'T have the most character is Sabine. It ties in with the series PERFECTLY. We get to see R2-D2, but we also see Ahsoka from The Clone Wars, and we also see Darth Vader. (Hoping that there's some conflict between them, due to history). MY personal verdict is that it's a good show. Your opinion?

I've been wondering (and secretly hoping) which one of these super hero films will bomb so bad that the whole bubble pops and Hollywood has to go back to the drawing board. My money is on either the Batman V. Superman film or the Marvel Civil War Film. Batman V. Superman is taking the greatest risk as it's trying to kickstart a whole cinematic universe in 1 film, which so far only kevin smith (the first baby) and marvel have been able to do successfully thus far. Plus you've got the whole Zack Synder thing (I don't mind him so much but a lot of folks do) and overall it just seems everybody is looking for any excuse to write that film off. Marvel civil war I am worried because they have to introduce black panther AND spider-man in the film without making either seem like they got shoe-horned. You take that with the fact that fans are noticing growing similarities between all the films (everybody is always going for some magic item, none of the heroes actually stay dead), and it means Marvel has to do something really new and inventive to make the film pop. Sure, it might not crash and burn; but I feel if it comes out and people are meh towards it, then that could severely stunt the growth marvel has been seeing. And isn't Ant man coming out right after that one too? or was it before?

I think the movie to keep a 'fail' watch on will be Dawn of Justice. It HAS to do well or the rest of the DC schedule will be marred by a poor standard. It will effectively have the opposite reaction that the Avengers had on all the phase 2 movies. It has all the DC heavy hitters, their most popular characters, and the ground work for 3 years of future movies and it currentlh has just as many negative points as it does positive.

Black Nerd Comedy You make a very good point and I have felt the same way. Right now to watch Iron Man 3 and understand what's going on, you need to, at least, watch Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and the Avengers first. To watch Captain America: The Winter Soldier, you need to watch Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Iron Man 3, and Agents of SHIELD beforehand. The reason Guardians of the Galaxy did so well is because all you really had to see was Guardians of the Galaxy. It's a lesson I hope DC has learned going into their own cinematic universe. You can do crossovers and such with comics and even TV series. But it doesn't work with movies. It really doesn't I hope with DC all I have to watch to understand Justice League is Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. I should just want to watch all subsequent movies. I shouldn't have to. We're supposed to have fun watching these movies. They can still be fun, but it feels like a chore when I HAVE to watch all Phase One and Phase Two movies as well as Agents of SHIELD before Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, and Civil War.

If and when they make it another movie they absolutely have to get right is the "Teen Titans" movie, I can put up with DC and Marvel putting out crap but they better polish the hell out of that steamy pile because that's another deal breaker if they mess that up. Which superhero movie will result in the second death of CBMs? The answer is quite simple. The worst movie of whichever comic movie studio is on top. As of now, it will be a terrible Marvel Studios movie that will result in the second death of CBMs. Not that I'm saying any of their movies will be terrible. But as of now, Marvel Studios is the most trusted source for Comic Book Movies. If all other studios made terrible comic book movies, the genre would continue to live on and the studios would have another chance to set it right with their next one, because Marvel is still trusted and will keep CBMs afloat. But unless another studio becomes serious competition for Marvel Studios, (Warner/DC, Fox, or a studio adapting another publisher) then it will be Marvel that brings the whole thing crashing down. If one or 2 of the movies in Phase 3, 4, 5, whatever are just terrible, not even laughably bad, then CBMs are done yet again. If Marvel has competition from other studios or another studio tops Marvel, then CBMs will endure much longer.

I personally like DC more, they have better comics/characters IMO, they also have hands down the best animated movies/shows plus the video games are better. With that said marvel definitely dominates live action movies though, I have hope that DC can turn that around if done right.

I actually think it will be the Infinity War. It won't bomb. But after that Marvel won't have another big thing to build up to and this comic book movie phase (and that's what it is) will slowly decay. Some franchises will probably survive but it will be the climax before the end of the phase just like Die Hard was for the big manly action movies.

Chris AngryNerd Baker Movies like "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Marvel's Avengers" are as good as they are because stick as many comic book characters in a film as humanly possible. Good DC films like the "Dark Knight" even fall short because you can replace the hero and villain with characters form non-comic book characters and still get the same result. I think the bare minimum Hero+Villain=Movie needs to be abandoned and give way to a formula with more comic book characters and references then fans can count. Also, dial down the drama.
