Many milestones in the history of the Avengers never happen without Tony but the absolute moment is the invention of the Tech for the time heist. There will be no "I'm Iron Man moment" erasing Thanos and his army. In fact, Thanos' snap is permanent. That is if Loki invasion of New York doesn't succeed since Toni was so crucial in foiling it. Yah, that will take a LOT of character growth. The dynamic of Tchalla and Killmonger is, they both see the problems of the world, and sins of the past of Black oppression. The difference is that both come off to me as kind of similar to major movements. Tchalla is like MLK, sees that violence will only beget more violence, and the problem will get worse, racial tensions will flare. Meanwhile Killmonger reminds me of the violent side of BLM and Antifa, the dumbasses who rioted for a whole year. They see the sins of the past that today, we have mostly solved, but they resort to violence to get their way. In thinking their the heroes, they do things that make them the villains, and only causes more hatred and violence from both sides.

Killmonger wanted to become the King of Wakanda and take revenge for his father's death. So he wanted Wakandans to trust him, if they want to trust him, he must do something heroic also while the rightful King T'challa should not be there. The What If point is just, what if Killmonger knew about Tony's assassination. Here, he knew about it and so he used it to his favor. He became Tony's pal to get hands on his tech, which he could use to attack Wakanda, without his name being out. He brought up Vibranium, which he knew would get Black Panther's attention, so that he could kill T'challa, which could help him be heroic when the battle occurs. He killed Rhodey, to let Stark know that he's bad, so that he could take out the 1 drone Stark activated and then kill Stark. Then he made the govt attack Wakanda. Then he went to Wakanda, killed Klaw so that he could get in with a good name. Then became the heroic King of Wakanda. 100% win for Killmonger. 1. Killed Tony Stark, a potential threat, 2. Made govt take over Stark Industries, another potential threat, 3. Killed the Vibranium theif, so that the Vibranium would not get out again, 4. Killed T'challa, his competitor, 5. Will kill T'chaka, one who killed his father, 6. Got a full design for a self sustaining killer drone bot, 7. Became Black Panther...

Hello Jaby! Been watching your reactions for a while now and i appreciate your genuine feelings throughout them all. I just watched "What If...Episode 6" and as soon as I was done, I found your reaction first to see your insights. I definitely understand your points. Now, I honestly loved this episode! I am not a fan of the Black Panther movie as a whole, but I loved Eric Killmonger's character and empathized with his goal (especially with me being a person of Afro-Caribbean descent). His goals clearly remain the same in the "What If", but to your comment regarding T'Chaka not seeing Killmonger's plot, I thought that T'Chaka in particular was very believable with his naivety in the face of his nephew. T'Chaka chose to kill his own brother and leave a young Eric orphaned. I'm sure T'Chaka's guilt was ever present and it shows through their interactions (brief as they were). It would make sense that T'Chaka would want to atone for his decision, and through his atonement, (along with Killmonger's manipulations and still grieving T'Challa) he became blind to Eric's true intentions. Definitely can't wait for the conclusion, and your reaction!

I think people need to stop expecting these stories to end with a neatly-tied bow. "What If" stories has always been a peek at the road not taken without having to tell the entire story of the character. To use some stories from the comics as examples, like "What If the heroes never returned to Earth from the Secret War?", which ended with their children traveling to Earth from Battleworld to find that the U.S has sentinels patrolling the entire country because Professor X and the X-Men wasn't there to prevent mutant hate. Or, "What If Peter Parker's physical appearance mutated so much from the spider-bite that he never became a Spider-man?", which ended with Peter sacrificing himself to save his son, who also suffered from the same mutation, from mutant haters, and having his son being sent to Xavier's school after he passed away. None of these stories needs a happy or sad ending. They just end. Heck, the only traditional "What If" story that ever got a continuation was "What If Peter's daughter never died and became Spider-Girl?", which spawned an entire comic book line ala the 2099 series. And that was the only exception, for whatever reasons, be it fans demands or because it opens up options creatively. That said, no matter what Marvel Studios have in their plans, I honestly can't say any of these stories that we've seen thus far in the TV series are so intriguing as to require a sequel, especially if it's just to "conclude" the stories.

I feel like the men, particularly Tony and T'chaka, are easier to manipulate because it was easier to show them a version of Killmonger that they liked. Tony wanted a close friend that had his back and Killmonger provided that. T'chaka needed another son to fill the void in his heart that he was willing to overlook the little details that didn't add up. Even then queen was manipulated after he suggested a way for her to avenge her son. He didn't try to appeal to Pepper and in fact undermined her when he could have gained an ally. Killmonger had Shuri convinced until he got too power hungry and reactivated the robots tso that he would be seen as a hero. He would have been set, but he was in too much of a hurry to execute his plan that he overlooked making sure not to leave any room for doubt in his lies.

I can see the confusion because there is no argument to support the "what if" scenario of this story since in the MCU proper we were not shown the choice Killmonger made in that timeline at that particular moment (if he didn't save Tony, what was he doing back then?). Plus the involvement of SHIELD is non-existent in this episode even though Fury was the author of the Avengers Initiative. episode 1: staying below or watching from above episode 2: sheltered or wayward episode 3: aspiration or reluctance episode 4: pragmatic or affiliative episode 5: mutation or evolution episode 6: ????

This universe would have tons of differences from the main timeline. It's not universe ending like the Zombies or Strange episode, but think about how much Tony and T'Challa alone being gone 10 years earlier changes. They also started a war with the US and the real Wakanda was revealed to the US way before the main timeline. Lastly, the thing about What If is it's not really about feeling anything specific by the end. It's essentially a short story thought process just like the comics. I feel like Killmonger making this decision to gain access to Tony Stark's technology and then killing him changed the entire history. Not only we don't have any Avengers (yet), but also potentially no SHIELD..(without Tony's help and tech). He pitted US vs Wakanda, knwoing that Wakanda can easily beat te US forces, and at the end he can just take the throne killing Tchaka (eventually). With Shuri realizing this, and US getting to know about Wakanda's secret, changes the whole course of Wakanda's intro to the world. Now Shuri can help Potts and the SHIELD (if it exists) with Vibaranium tech, much early and that could lead to whole new opportunities, and possibilities. What if... T'Chaka couldn't get across the information about his brother being involved in Klaw's invasion in Wakanda? Then Killmonger's father eventually would have been killed by American war intelligence. That's why instead of focusing how to defeat T'Challa in front of everyone, humiliating him; he choose to humiliate the American war intelligence first, igniting direct war between them & Wakanda. That's why he saw T'Challa instead of his father in ancestral plane, because he still felt some sort of guilt for killing him, where in main universe he didn't.

Yes of course it's so much frustrating....I totally agree with the Achara. I want a part 2 of this episode and the zombie episode.....I hated that it ended in such a way.

As bad as the experience was for Tony (in the MCU timeline), without that experience (journey, knowledge, actual experience), he doesn’t grow and doesn’t become his best self. And things can (and do!) really suck as we’re going thru difficulties and trials...if we can hold on, we can become our best selves. Poor Tony doesn’t because he didn’t experience that situation. Chadwick speaking from the Ancestral Plain was powerful.

I think the proper title for this What If episode should be "What if KillMonger moved his time table back more than a decade earlier" , that would've cleared up any assumptions on Stark's or the Avengers involvement in the story lol

Great episode but the Navy dress uniform or choker whites….emblems we’re all wrong. Shoulder boards should have been for the rank or LT. He had in ones noting an admiral. The wings emblem is for pilots or Air warfare. He is a seal so should have the seal emblem. Rant done.

The difference for the plans is simple. His original plan happened in a Black Panther movie. His second plan happened in a Killmonger episode. And they're showing that Killmonger with resources is nearly unstoppable. His resource pool went from his spec ops SEAL team, to Tony Stark, to the entire Department of Defense, to the most technologically advanced society on the planet + super powers. That's why the different plan, it would be a bad Black Panther movie of Killmonger wins

This episode (and to a lesser extent, the previous ones) simply proves that becoming Iron Man literally saved Tony Stark's life a long time ago. He was already on a downward spiral of ego, alcohol, and recklessness when he was kidnapped by the Ten Rings. And made poor business decisions in who he chose to work closest with...

This episode was okay however, the story feels a little rushed and it feels like this episode should of been after the third episode, "What if Earth lost its Mightest Heroes?" Regardless, I'm still enjoying the dark tone of the series. Enjoyed the reaction! 🙏🏽💪

Charisma & Manipulation: Erik Killmonger is an incredibly masterful schemer and manipulator. Easily being able to convert even the most loyal of T'Challa's citizenry to his cause, this coupled with his tactical mind gives N'Jadaka most easy acclimation of loyal troops who'll fight and die for him.

Man its almost like the episode was made to show that Killmonger was kinda a prick after all and that just because he said racism bad witch he didn't even practice as he himself is racist and killed blacks and bragged about and just because he has a sad backstory doesent make him a good guy.

The results of this ending is that, No Iron man, but Wakanda is already known to the world. So Fury may try to recruit Killmonger's Black Panther as one of the Avenger. Shuri and Pepper on the other hand, does not have much. Stark Industries is now controlled by Govt, and Killmonger is the King of Wakanda. Though the US govt is against Wakanda now, Killmonger may blame Klaw for killing Tony as Wakanda would have a record of Klaw stealing vibranium. Now, without Iron Man, the illegal Nuke targetted on New York when avengers were failing, will actually hit New York because Tony will not be there to take it out, and with New York gone, many people we know now will be gone, like Stephen Strange who was just a doctor performing a surgery while battle of New York was happening. Loki may have succeeded, and much more...

Also, every What If can't end with the destruction of the timeline. that's nonsensical. so basically every timeline that isn't the way you like it/want it is invalid and can't exist? not every change is a universe-ender and the main timeline isn't the only one that should matter/exist. Also each timeline can't be about the butterfly effect. its just another timeline where a variety of different things happen

There are always two types of stories in Marvel, one is more ground level and another is more cosmic level. Dr. Strange story is more cosmic level and it has power and magic to destroy the universe. Tony Stark is more ground level, it effects the universe around him, Tony Stark's death puts two countries at war with each other which may lead to Hitler level domination from Kill Monger. Also the universe still may end because there is no Tony Stark to make the sacrifice play and snap as in end game.

This was an amazing episode and the subtle long term scheming added to the complexity and for me, made it one of my faves. Killmonger was a dick and someone I was firmly rooting against but man, what a fascinating episode!

Killmonger started a war between Wakanda and the U.S. and he took out the first member of the Avengers. The outcome of him becoming Black Panther is the same but the situation on earth is more vulnerable to Loki's attack and then Thanos. So I think this episode actually has very foreboding consequences.

Well, the goal of a "What if?" comic wasn't so much about immediate resolution as it is testing the standard we've grown to know. Everyone has that "What if the bad guy won?" conversation on some form of entertainment. I'm sure we can all sit back and ask ourselves that this doesn't seem too far away from the actions of the character, so why wouldn't he do it? Well, because it's a "What If?" story and we're in an established fragile multiverse, where taking a drink of water or not becomes 2 separate timelines. If anything, this becomes more a story of a timeline balancing itself out as it should. The watcher focused on "hero", not that it had to be Tony Stark. And Pepper Potts and Sheri might not even be the selection for that task, just the catalyst..

Thanos may get the stones sooner.

What I don't get is that at the end Shuri comes to Pepper with, I think, proof of Erik's murder to T'Challa. Why does she not go to T'Chaka and Ramonda with that? Either way, this episode cements Stevens as up there as one of the MCU's best villains. Manipulative, calculating, vicious, deadly, and single-minded.

I don't think Killmonger is any different here, other than being more calculated. He's just as ruthless, just as motivated, just as vengeful. He betrays and murders his way into Wakanda in both universes, he's just more successful here.

The Avengers was going to start because of Nick Fury; remember the end of Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel inspired him to start the Avengers; he even thought of the name. Black Widow would have been one of his first according to Iron Man 2. We know Tony recruited the Dr. Banner so maybe or maybe not we would have a Hulk. We would still get a Avengers team it just would have been different. Fuy did recruit Captain America. Thanos would have still came for the stones; it all depends if Loki defeats the Avengers in this timeline. Thanos came because Loki failed; so Thanos said he would do it himself.

Honestly it sounds like you are a little bit spoiled from all the other marvel stuff that you are given on a regular basis because usually you get so much content. Like most movies are hour and a half or more. All the other Marvel live action Siri‘s have been about 45 minutes and this is about the same time. But because it’s an animated show and they have to do a lot just to make the stuff that they have now. You feel kind of rushed because you only get about maybe 25 maybe 30 minutes in each of these episodes and that’s not counting the intro or the Retread that they have to do for people who might have not seen the movies in years or no the basis of where they’re at starting the concept that they’re talking about.
