There's a weird disconnect between lyrics and video. The video has her acting kind of selfish by delaying the date trying to get ready. Obsessing over TikTok, showering and stuff over and over... The lyrics sound like a commentary on how women are made to feel like objects. Dolls, wrapped in plastic, and then the weird "I'll call you master" line. (Not gonna judge kinks but it does come out of nowhere so seems creepy.) Maybe that's how she feels and is why she's taking so long, but it's not really made clear at all. And I seriously doubt it because she's just doing TikToks the whole time. If you were insecure about how you looked, I doubt you'd be doing dances in cosplay, but maybe that's just me.

I feel the same. I think both messages are true to an extend, but I have hard time seeing them coexisting in one person, unless their are a hypocrit. If you take the date out of the video and only leave the tick tock it makes a bit more sense, but the lyrics still try to make the topic sound abusive (as if she has to please the crowd even tho she doesn't like to make a product of herself), but in the video she is addicted to it and happy. Social media addiction is a true problem, but the lyrics don't seem to go thst way imo. If you leave the tik tok out, the video goes a roundabout way of portraing girls pressure of expectations that a young man might have (She thinks he expects her to look cute/sexy/attractive), but again doesn't have any reflection on the heroine appearance which makes the existence of a serious meaning doubtful. (She clearly seems to just enjoy it rather than showing any mental pressure. She is so relaxed that she straight up forgets about the guy). The closest topic which the video cowers in both it's visuals and it's lyrics is how the guy (it can happen in reverse too) Is in the end just one pair of the thousands of eyes that the girl tries to appeal to. He wastes his time and money on the flowers (looking at the clock he traveled atleast over an hour to her) and is left "waiting" on when she stops appealing to an online crowd and turns her gaze back om him. However it is very sketchy bc imo the clearest topic is social media addiction and selling the appearence.

@@enot2140 Yeah, and social media addiction isn't a new idea. It doesn't innovate or discuss anything different. The addiction has been around since social media itself, which is ages. We all know it's a big problem, but that's why the push for better mental health services are there. And this video really seems to cheery to be like a PSA on social media addiction. They could have said something new with the anime-like visuals though. Anime is pretty sexist at the end of the day and if she watched some and felt the need to copy it, we could have a real discussion in the comments about how it has questionable stances on consent (the girls are almost always written into falling over or something and almost always hate it) and a serious double standard. How E-girls try to copy the anime girls to attract men and make money. How instead of porn (which used to be the unhealthy standard some used), some guys actually base their standards off of anime girls now, which is crazy because not many people can act or look that way. This isn't me being mad at all anime- obviously. My profile pic is a Danganronpa character, I provably like a lot of anime. And I do! But pretty much anything with an ecchi tag other than Konosuba and Shinometa really rubs me the wrong way, and I think I know why. Japan has a sexism problem too. They straight up force women to wear heels and skirts at work, and ban glasses because they seem "unfriendly". That is OF COURSE going to translate into their animation at times. And to be clear- people can enjoy this stuff without being a creep! But we really should push for less creepy undertones in our entertainment. It doesn't help how people view the real world. Idk, pretty much any solid commentary would have been cool, because all this really is when we analyse it is a selfish girl treating her boyfriend badly and getting away with it.
