I love the necromongers. They are just so evil but in the same time so stylish.

They aren't evil at all. They are going to end life which will end suffering. They are the good guys.
@TheCorrodedMan11 ай бұрын
They aren’t evil in the sense that they do things for the sake of being evil. They do those things because they believe that it’s an integral part of their faith and sacred duty as the Chosen of the Underverse. It doesn’t excuse what they do, but it does add depth to them. To them, they are the Good Guys. To us, they’re the spawn of Satan +10

I love that Covu’s last act was to walk away into the Underverse, at peace with what he had built and confidant that his successor would continue his legacy. Leaders that are willing to let go of their power are rare, and those that do so not out of fear or hatred are rarer still. I expect that he saw something beyond the Threshold: the figure of a woman, with two young children at her side, beckoning him to join them in peace and eternal joy. I might even dare to wager that he smiled for the first time in years when he saw it.
@grandparedpill2695 Жыл бұрын
George Washington did this, because of his great hero Cincinnatus, the retired Roman general who became imperative during a time of war, and when the war had ended and he was victorious, he rode back to Rome and immediately relinquished his title back to the Senate. Then retired on his farm.
@azazelsiad360111 ай бұрын
@@grandparedpill2695exactly true men seek power to use it to build and make great things and then let those things flourish. You stifle them if you try to control every aspect of them or overbear on them. It limits the potential of what you create.
@TheCorrodedMan11 ай бұрын
@@azazelsiad3601Precisely. Of course it helps that Covu never really wanted power to begin with; he was just a preacher who thought things were different to the established dogma, and he was punished for it. He only partook of the gifts of the Underverse after he was left with nothing, not even hope. When he came back, he realized that there was a greater purpose for him, that it was his most _sacred_ duty to seek out his torturers and show the true path to them. I like him because he’s the exact opposite of an evil overlord; certainly he did terrible things in the name of faith, but in the end he knew that his time was done. The Necromongers didn’t need an eternal leader, they needed a legend, to guide them on their quest. And so that’s exactly what he became.

I really liked the concept of the Necromongers. What made their fanaticism so dangerous was because it was tied to a real truth: their religion is true. They have physical evidence and proof of an afterlife through the Threshold, and the prospect of being able to even return from said afterlife. No other religion in that universe can make such a claim. The irony of the Necromongers conquering New Mecca and converting Muslims is beautiful.
@MikeTall882 жыл бұрын
Yeah! In contrast, you have the "gods" from star gate, who's religion is not true, but it's just technology.

I like the way this guy thinks. Legit if I was a spectator and saw a dude get his soul ripped from his body in front of me, I'd join immediately because they obviously have the right idea on who to follow. Mayhaps if your will is strong enough you too could access the underverse and it's power.
@rogeliovaldez96892 жыл бұрын
i was thinking the exact thing, necromonger aggressive religious expansion mirrors how Islam spread through jehad and in book dogma that saw others as less(to be fair other religious and cultural populations do something similar), hence why in the movie they have disdain for anybody else and call them breeders.

@@rogeliovaldez9689 all the Abrahamic religions are the same. Catholics and Christians are super vicious too.
@rogeliovaldez96892 жыл бұрын
@@limitlesssky3050 your absolutely right but I don't think you fully read out what i was saying. i was speaking towards certain religious tenants or messages, not individuals. in the quran it is justifiable to make war or jehad on those who do not practice islam ( hence some extremist sects) and it is how islam initially spread in the middle east and north africa ect.. different from how other Abrahamic faiths did initially. this is ironic as olepigeon points because the necromongers tenant is that life should not exist and not procreate as a result the only way to spread the faith would be through conversion/violence otherwise they won't reach their goals. in both cases war on the non-believers was justifiable in both a practical and spiritual sense. this is why Islam won and why very few if any Christians, Jews, and native Copts of Egypt and Zoroastrians of Iran exist as the Roman and Persian empire became overwhelmed by the Arabs. the history is very interesting i suggest u look it up

There are some similarities between the Necromongers and the Roman empire - especially in terms of elaborate architecture, sculpture, armour, technological advancement, leadership and religion. And even size, scale and grandeur. First time I saw Chronicles, I thought the Necromongers were a bit like the Romans but in space. Really cool concept.

Honestly, I like it better that way. Do you want Riddick to become a washed out meme? Or remain a cult classic? The last Riddick was a treat and if they do another it will be a treat too. But pumping them out like F&F would ruin it. Each film would have less and less creative passion for the character. If you want more Riddick in your life I recommend trying the video games. Both were solid games and what's better than watching Riddick than becoming Riddick?
