This man was so gifted and if only preachers would preach about what is really going on their sermons instead of telling people what you think they want to hear! There will never be another Marvin Gaye, the genius, whose music fits anytime, especially our time we are going through right now. He was a genius and it is probably what killed him! It is nothing like speaking on what is going on and when you pass it is still going on! He will forever live! RIP Marvin Gaye. "I'm thankful for my struggle because without it I wouldn't have stumbled across my strength."

I have mixed emotions for Motown because it was thee epitome of excellence in black culture. It gave a voice to a difficult time in America. It was entity that produced more top 100 hits that have stood the test of time. My issue is the fact that this poor man died a drug addicted pauper when in actuality he had sold millions that should have enriched his children's children. He signed it away to the great man and his family. That's how we treat each other and then blame other ethnicities for our downfall because we don't practice economics within our immediate ethnicity. Motown made billions.

He probably didn't know how to manage and didn't have a Lawyer to help him manage. It was different back in those days. I do believe that a lot of the Artist that came out of Motown didn't get all that was due to them. I think it was poor management on both sides The Motown Industry and some of the Artist for just not knowing how to manage.

@Feezie F-Baby Yes her relationship with James Brown and David Ruffin was abusive. The person that raped her was not James. David was the great love of her life according to those who were close to her. Her relationship with Marvin was the brother/friend kind. Marvin himself said he could never have had a romantic relationship with Tammi. If you want more info on that then grab a copy of David Ritz's biography of Marvin Gaye.

@@debraperkins4448 wait so he severely stumps and punches and kicks his father inside his father's house. And that's ok. Cause mavin was defending his mother from abuse. Where did you get your facts. Marvin's mom stayed married to his dad for over 50 years and she was the person that bailed him out of jail after he killed their son. So if she was abuse then all this is her fault cause all the kids were grown, so she had plenty of opportunities to leave that man. I'm sure marvin could afford to take care of his mommy. Since he died avenging her.
@Tonshmar5 жыл бұрын
jla9x40 There have been numerous reports from family sources, even his own sister, that Marvins father was in fact a very abusive man. Physically abusive I’m not sure, but emotionally abusive, according to them... YES. Marvin’s dad, by all accounts was absolutely a JEALOUS, emotionally abusive crossdresser. (PINNED up emotions) Look it up... there are a few videos of them discussing it. With that being said, an even more interesting theory is that Marvin was suffering greatly from depression and based on promises from his father in the past.... he may have committed suicide-by-father by attacking him. The fact that Marvin has NEVER hit his father before and knowing what the consequences would be, coupled with his serve depression, I can believe it. It may have been intentional. Just sad. Side Note: MANY abused woman continue to support their abuser and never divorce them. That’s nothing new, but I’m guessing it may be for you. 🤷♀️
@jla9x405 жыл бұрын
@@Tonshmar so you dont know what kind of abusive behavior his father had done hmmm, but you know of many reports of his father being abusive and out of all these many reports including reports by family members no one can say if he was physically abusive or mentally abusive. But we all know and it's been proving that marvin gaye suffered from drug dependency and move to london and became a crackhead, yup and that's a fact. He was not suffering from depression because of something his daddy did in the past, but more than likely depress by his drug abuse. The man was a drug addict great singer entertainer. But nevertheless a crackhead.

I was 16 when "WHATS GOIN ON" came out and was on the radio, I STILL REMEMBER where I was at and I tell you it was like a new instrument had been found or another part of the Bible had been discovered.WHY? Because we didnt understand why you did not allow him to do this before now!This was shocking! I mean NOBODY outside Motown knew he had this in him, and then to put it yo words that sounded that good! Listen, now ,its a given,but in 1970 aw man, and I see the cd now for 4.95 and thats something but its cool, they should put it in drawers at hotels and motels next to the Gideons Bible.Then there is that voice, I think 4 octaves my GOD, you know these dudes were super bad and Ive got to explain to my Grandson that there was a magic time in a place name Detroit and those people were BAD! I am so glad I came up in the 60 s cause I would have missed out on what real music was and expected to be.You look at that house on West Grand Blvd and you cant believe those wonderful sounds came out of that place!It had to have come from some beautiful castle or heavenly mansion and in hind sight I guess it did.I have this real friend and he is a singer and he performs with different groups now ,and he and I wish we could go back there to those times in that bldg to hear the Temptations practice or Marvin writing at the piano or recording, man I would ve done that for free! I loved Motown and still do.I saw most of them at the Apollo which was another adventure in itself back then.
