Great to see your video's, dug out my copy of "How to Modify Your Mini", given to me by my grandfather when I bought my first mini, every margin full of notes, and memories. He was the first Austin/Morris dealer in South Australia, in the 50's they drove an A90 from Adelaide to Darwin (about 2600km) as a promotion, epic trip in the day, Never raced again after he got married (before the war), on a promise, died at 89 having never received a speeding ticket. A true gentleman on the road, but put him on a dirt road in a forest and he was scary, in a forest in a mini though, he was a master, and a Sunday Drive isn't racing. ;-)

Very interesting story my friend. I'm from North East Victoria Australia. My grandmother had the exact same car in the 60s. I was born in 1987 and personally like the holden vl commodore/calais turbo. Building one at the moment for a street strip set up.

You really have done everything, Mr. Vizard, even down to building race winning saloon cars. As the top gear fellows say of Bentleys, that is one quick stately home. Jokes and incredibly innovative creativity aside, that was a brilliantly heartwarming story of sporting behaviour at its best.

Don't let what those closed minded people think about you affect you or what you are doing David. It's not like you have to list your achievements for their approval. I enjoy the stories and technical videos you continue to put out.

Great story David. You had me laughing pretty good there. I also want to comment that, saying “Thanks” to those who helped you out so many years later is first class and very much a stand up thing to do. Kudos!

I'm always so happy to see another video pop up, there's so much to learn and the stories are great! The only thing I'd change is the music. Is there a chance you could make the background music disappear while you're talking? I'll keep watching even if you don't but give it some thought

I have to agree about the background "music". It actually hurts my ears in addition to muting David's voice.

Amazing stories! Very enjoyable. Have been a scrutineer for many years and am constantly amazed how the “boys” rebuild the wreck ready for the next race. Wonderful to watch, especially WRC.

Another excellent story David. The help provided by the other teams is a tremendous statement of the type of individuals that you were racing against. Top level teams in the category helping each other. Damn I wish we saw more of this in today's world. Great story though, shame that you didn't get to find out how fast it really was on the day. Regards Greg

Those Cosworth Sierras were amazing cars. AWD turbo 4. We only got the Merkur XR4Ti Rwd in the States. The Eagle Talon and Mitsubishi Eclipse were tearing up the SCCA classes. Edit to add, your advice about the Hans Device will save lives.

Speaking of HANS devices, I had a bicycle wreck about 15 years ago (a mechanical failure while turning, I’m told that locked the pedals) that resulted in a basilar skull fracture, (same injury that killed Dale Earnhardt) broken stirrup bone in the right ear, ruptured right eardrum and permanent loss of olfactory function (no sense of smell). I lost all memory of the crash and 2-3 days post-crash, waking up in the hospital to see my mother; who lived 800 miles away two states to the North. Luckily, I had a *_slightly_* less violent impact than Dale Sr and although it wasn’t attributed as such; my ruptured eardrum likely gave any fluid that could have swollen my walnut a place to escape. Overall, a somewhat harrowing experience; sadly I haven’t ever regained my sense of smell but that’s life. Very sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter, David; I’m sure she was the light of your life. You never know quite what you once had until you are missing it, so we must give thanks and count our blessings every day we are able to get up in the morning. Cheers and thanks for your generous contributions, Mr. Vizard.

Sounds like the wavy steels for transmission clutches. Delays apply but greatly reduces drag when released.

Shake'N-Brake, and I helped 😜, When my dad and I were playing dirt track, he always said sometimes slower us faster, I remember we were having carb issues, it was cutting out, and flooding at idle , I pushed it hard as I could, and kept getting passed, we didn't need brakes unless we were stopping, with 6:20gears, no throttle was good as brakes,

I have a question not related to brakes. I built a stroker Chevy G2 Lt1, AFR heads, close to 600 lift roller, 30lb injectors. The factory setting for plug gap is .050, but my tuner recommended a different plug gapped to.035. Car runs rich and has poor idle, but when I step on it it seems to fire on all 8. It has an MSD Opti-Spark and Coil. Sir if you could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. I have considered pulling the cam out and replacing it with the smaller GM “Hot Cam” used for the Lt4. I have also changed the knock module in the computer. Thanks.

Rule of thumb? if your engine overheats at low speed, not enough air flow! if your engine overheats at high speed, not enough radiator capacity!

Chuck, Dave mountain bought the motor that ran away from the competition in 1988 at Silverstone. On daves dyno dicks engine made less than the mountune engine. Dicks secret to faster lap times was the diff setup. As for my 277 hp that was from an engine that was a stock and legal for the production class engine i.e. no mods.

Once when I was an apprentice I machinced a rotor and stuffed up. So I after I cracked the nut I put it back on and used the dual tip attachment and only used one side...... The steering wheel jumped out of my hands. The customer was in the office..... ive never got one disc back in shape so fast.

When I put a 400 small block in my 75 monza, The brakes were a joke! 1980s and earlier Brake frictions were organic! I Switched to Semi- metallics & a smaller bore master cylinder (Non vacuum assisted Vega) I could then stop faster then I could accelerate!
